Official HTC Hero 2.1 Update now (5/19) on Sprint.com

One would think, that since everyone is so jacked up about the update, that you all would have installed sync before today? knowing it was necessary to update and all....

Who the hell thought the servers would be running this slow?!? But thanks for the advice days late! :D

i wanna kno what the difference between this and the leaked version is. ive been running the leaked version since saturday with no problems. all the numbers match up. so i dont see the point in upgrading again until i see some results that show a significant difference.

Man, the people over at the Sprint community forums are pitching a fit. They are saying the same lagging problems are in the new release, etc.

Seems like Christmas came, and all they got were socks. Then they went to put the socks on and found a note saying "I don't love you" in them.

At the Sprint store in center city Philly (17th & Market), a minimum 2-hour wait for them to upgrade your phone to 2.1.

Hi, hope this isn't redundant... According to the Best Buy in Simi Valley, CA (where I got my Hero) they will not be able to load 2.1 for customers until Friday. I'm guessing this is company wide, but perhaps not. If you are unable to update on your own (like me, I'm a Mac person) you should be able to go to any Sprint store now and get the upgrade. I just spoke with Sprint in Northridge (the same folks who gave me the info that the update would in fact be happening now which I posted a few days ago) and they told me to come on down for my upgrade, but to be prepared to wait! Which made me laugh since we have all been waiting for months ;-) Lotsa luck. Boy, I hope the wait was worth it. SO EXCITED!!! Cheers.

I was rooted and had tried out DC2.08.1 and Fresh 2.0d but was experiencing constant reboots for some reason that were getting annoying so I used my nandroid backup and switched back to 1.5 for a while until the official Sprint release came out. So far so good with no problems - although I did have to reboot again after the completed install auto-reboot to get data access. Downloading apps from the market now.

I no longer have root access (obviously) but I got ancy and wanted to check out the Sprint approved new release. Dolphin HD is SICK!@

Keyboard lag is still there. Difference for me between the leak and official is market apps are appearing in the official and not the leak unless you search for them. Still no mic on the stock keyboard, gotta use better keyboard for that. The only lag I see though is the keyboard. Basically there is no difference in the official except market apps appearing in your downloads tab.

so for those who have installed it already...is this official ruu the same as the latest ruu leak? and is there still little free space left after the install?

MD5 says yes they are the same exact leak..

Can you please check for me if you can find MusicSleep Paid app? I have installed the latest leaked ROM and since everybody seems to say that this official version is the same as the leak, I wasn't planning on reinstalling it using the RUU and lose root, but I couldn't find that paid app in the market, only the demo one. Strange that some of the other paid apps are there. Thanks in advance.

I have the leak and Paid and Demo are both there.

well...then...that's too bad. going to wait for fresh kitchen to support 2.1 then! the hero will bog down eventually to a crawl if users install apps and don't maintain the cache etc.

but wait.....it's the same leak ...but one thing I've noticed that the previous leak is 125MBs and the Official Sprint release is 118MBs .....

so yeah...they probably did fix a few things with it...

i use a mac and a pc and when i downloaded the leaked ruu and the official ruu, the file comes out to be 124mb (for both). Zipped the files are both 118mb.
