Official HTC Hero 2.1 Update now (5/19) on Sprint.com

haha alright. well no point in debating file sizes if neither of us are willing to flash it! =)
on a side note, stay warm in the yay area.

Why flash it? lol I been running 2.1 since I can't remember lol.......

1.5 looks and feels so ancient to me now...

having an issue upgrading. the update loses connection to the usb after its tells my phone to reboot. the phone shutsdown but doesnt reboot.....any ideas?

Can someone give specific information on this item? What is different? Does it support pin-lock and remote data wipe?

*Includes enhanced corporate email support*

Thanks!

Can I ask a really annoying question?

So I've downloaded everything and when I run the .exe file I'm getting an error message.

">SetupNew\setup.cpp (140)

..<some crap about windows xp at the bottom>

I thought I had a pdf of the installation docs, but I can't find it now. Do I need to copy the .exe file somewhere specific? I've installed Sync on my pc, already.

the file you downloaded isnt the right size(didnt complete). redownload it.

Sorry to be insensitive, but I'm going to take a second to gloat :p.

I am sooooooo glad that I rooted and went that way back when I did. At the time, I just thought that it was great that I could run 2.1 and try different themes, and etc.

But, as of today, the number one reason that I am glad that I rooted is so that I can sit back and avoid all the general wackiness of everyone trying to upgrade all at the same time.

Don't hate me because I'm rooted :D

Has anyone else gone to a Sprint store to have theirs updated? I went on my lunch break and they tried twice and said that there was some issue with my phone and they were getting a message that their was no update available. But 30 minutes earlier they were able to update someone else's phone in like 15 minutes no problem. Any thoughts?

Has any one using the Leaked version, had any problems updating with the Official version? That may have already been answered, but I have not located the answer on this thread...

Thanks my fellow "Hero-nites"

Wow...I used the mirror link for the update and have it but the sync download is taking forever.

Anyone have a mirror for that? :)

Can you please check for me if you can find MusicSleep Paid app? I have installed the latest leaked ROM and since everybody seems to say that this official version is the same as the leak, I wasn't planning on reinstalling it using the RUU and lose root, but I couldn't find that paid app in the market, only the demo one. Strange that some of the other paid apps are there. Thanks in advance.

MusicSleep US$1.59 Its there.

...live wallpapers aren't really that much to get excited over on our phone. I think we need a bit more horsepower to really appreciate them. Just my opinion though.

Finally, someone who understands that this is one of the many low end android phones! I got a long nasty message on Youtube because I commented on a video saying about how the Hero is now a low end android phone, and got about a page and a half message explaining to me, in botched english, about how the Hero is a quality phone and is in no way shape or form a low end device. Sorry to say, but even as much as I love this phone, it's still a low end device in the Android spectrum.

Something else that's intriguing to me... I've never used HTC Sync, because I thought it to be relatively useless... until today, just to see what it does. Seems as though it doesn't work here on my computer. The phone won't recognize that I have it installed on my computer, oh well. Might wait a few days until everyone is done spamming the HTC site with the updates, then re-download a fresh copy. Might be something else as well. Anyone have issues running it on a 64 bit OS?

Never thought of installing HTC Sync since i basically synced my contacts with gmail and just dragged and dropped anything else i needed on my phone through the USB connect

I wouldn't call it a low end device...if this phone would have had a better processor it would had been something else...

but I still wouldn't call it a low end device...this phone has sense which it's a big plus IMO....

agreed. not a low end device. if wikipedia isn't lying to me...the droid has the same memory specs and a processor that is only slightly faster. sense is probably what slows down this device (along with other HTC add-ons) but to me sense makes the UI much nicer and allows me to be more efficient/productive.
