Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

I haven't ordered anything yet. Not even the phones. Although I did get two pre-order cards at Radio Shack near one of my sites. But I am still debating whether to go that route, the evpdiscount route, Best Buy or with David down in Florida.
personally, moneywise I would do it at Radio Shack since I can trade in some of my older phones. But with 4 devices to my name, 3 of which would incur a ETF, I really do not know what to do. Too bad I can't go in to a Sprint Store and have a one on one with a manager much like they do in schools with your guidance counselor.
These are the times i wish I had a friend working in Sprint. The one I had left to become a programmer. :(

TS...Did you try contacting an EVP rep via phone to discuss your situation? That's the closest I could say you could have a 1-on-1 or you could always try calling Sprint Telesales and asking to get escalated to a Manager to explain your situation to see what type of deal they could do for you.

Damnnnnn

Every attendee at the Google I/O just got handed over a EVO 4 G

ok I am crying now. Wish I would have gone.

As teh CIA guy said in Independence Day, "...Thats not entirely accurate..."

The source I was following, said that all the developers attending would receive an EVO, not the strictly media attendees...

Speaking of showing up everywhere, but man, the EVO section has exploded. I really can't keep up reading each new post in the EVO section. Sheesh. Each thread has about 3 posts per minute.

As for calling EVP, I haven't yet. I just might. If anything I might have to pay full price but thats okay if they put it on my bill then I have a month to pay it off so thats cool.

These Evos are showing up everywhere. I believe now more than ever that they'll be released for sale before June 4.

I strongly agree with this statment, maybe a week early for the "unofficial" start of summer, and an extra day off work to master the phone, and then "sell" it to all their Iphone buddies...:D

*we can all dream, worst case, two weeks from tommrow morning, we will be playing with ours !

No need to call, just start a chat session with them and they can answer all of your questions. (and it takes a couple of minutes between responses so you have time for post reading)

Also happened to notice that a certain other site, has only a fraction of the traffic and chatter.

And that a particular "fortune teller" has been oddly silent as well...

A big thanks to you TS for keeping everything neat and tidy around here. It's yeoman's work, but it truly makes this place great...and therefore, has made a significant dent in my production at work. ;)

I thought Billsmed actually said May 29/30 was his guess. The poll had May 22/23. I picked that date because I thought there'd be no reason to wait past it if the phone's ready. Inventory - not a reason. 2.1 - not a reason. 2.2 - not included, not a reason. Testers/contest winners - not a reason.

There just isn't a reason to not sell this thing starting this weekend.

I guess if I hear about people getting calls tonight and tomorrow about early pickup, then I'll know it's dead-on.

Until then, I'll just wait.

How is the typing on the evo, is it smooth and responsive? and can you type one-handed portrait? Just wondering b/c I'm thinking with the screen size I might have to use two hands no matter which way the phone is turned.
Sorry, never got to this. Typing feels great and yes; you can do it one-handed no problem.

I think you make some good points, especially since Sprint started selling the Tour replacement earlier than the originally announced release date.

Why not get the Evo out before Memorial Day weekend?

Question for those who have played with the EVO - Are you not able to text message in landscape mode? I was watching the Engadget review and the guy was trying to show the keyboard in landscape mode, but he couldn't do it while text messaging, he had to go to the internet keyboard to do it.

You absolutely can text in landscape mode. Only catch is that the phone only goes into that mode with the earpiece to the left, that's all.

that's insane! how does one get to go to this thing?

Register, pay a fee and fly out there.

Basically it's a forum for Google to tell 3rd party developers about Google's newest technologies. Then those developers can use that knowledge to start writing apps, widgets and plugins for them.

Google I/O 2010

Speaking of Google: if you have a Google Wave account, the folks at Lifehacker have a great wave up that chronicles today's presentation. Here's the search string you need:

with : public "Live-Waving the Google I/O Day 2 Keynote"

They have a corresponding public discussion - "Google I/O Thursday Keynote Public Discussion Wave" - going as well.
