WOW! I can't believe you found the strength to come and inform us. I sure hope you're doing ok. I usually save a section of my prayers for the sick and less fortunate but forget them, I'm praying you recover from this horrible incident and that damn store updates their cell phones!

I must be getting old. . . . I can't tell but. . . . .is this sarcasm ? :D

Just an update on my second attempt to negotiate with retentions, by the way now called "Account Services". They continue to say that the $70 customer loyalty credit no longer exists and the best I could get out of them was a $10 a month credit and a $5 per line (three lines) or $15 a month credit to renew my contract for a HTC EVO based plan. Total of $25 per month credit. Went over to one of my Best Buys and was number 33 on the list of pre-order EVOs. The guys, who by the way were very knowledgeable and friendly said that they were sure that they would get all the EVOs they needed for the pre-orders. They said that they had been reassured by both their Sprint Rep and Best Buy HQ that they would not have another Verizon Incredible fiasco of shortage. Now to just wait!

Has anyone seen or heard anymore regarding whether or not Swype will be on the EVO 4G out of the box? The only thing I have seen was a couple pages back, someone said they were talking with a Sprint rep and he/she said Swype would be on the EVO 4G.

I really like Swype and hope it's included but my gut feeling is that it won't be there. About a week ago I sent an email to "Swype" asking for info about the Swype beta that was released around March or so of this year. (which was closed later because the downloads of the program were much more than they expected) So far, I haven't rec'd a reply to my inquiry.

I remain: patiently/impatiently waiting for the HTC EVO 4G to be released.

Thats a better deal. 300 a year x 2 = 600. Not bad. The other way would only have been. 70x3= 220 :D

I had a wierd dream that I had gotten the access passwords for the sprint distribution warehouse and made sure that the best buy that i preordered from was getting over 100 units. Wow, this phone cannot come soon enough for my sanity!

Swype is a 3rd party keyboard - why would they bundle it upon release? Get it like any other 3rd party app.

Yes it is, I guess I should have explained better that I was satisfied with the offer even though it took me about 15 minutes of "discussion" to get it from $3 per line up to $5. But yes I'm happy! :D

Another example of thinking outside the box and not fixate on the $70.

Swype did come preinstalled in the Omnia 2 which was released on Verizon last December.

Also like I said, when you go to the Swype website they did have a beta release for Android phones but they closed it because of the huge number of downloads.

I was just wonderin' if anyone had any info one way or the other....

NO clue where all of the "Swype" stuff is popping up from - nobody ever mentioned it up until a few days ago.

I am relatively sure Swype is NOT included. And the Beta for it is closed, so for the time being there is no way to get it on the device.

Edit: Yes, Swype came on the Omnia, but that was a special thing as part of a Samsung phone. HTC and/or Sprint have never included Swype by default on a device, and I haven't heard anything about that starting now.

oh I hadn't realized it was still in such early stages. I thought it was available in the market already.

The people on Ebay are crazy. There are people trying to sell their phones they got yesterday for $2,800. I want this phone really bad, but I am not going to pay twice what my mortgage payment is for it.

the thing is, someone unfortunately will though... then, the seller can go right to the store on the 4th and pick another one up, while still making a hefty profit. :(

That doesn't look as bad as some of the reviews made it out to seem!

Thanks for posting this.

I am actually not very impressed.

Here is a video from my Panasonic point and shoot camera that does 720P (be sure to select HD in YouTube).

Check out my other videos and I think you will see that the image sensor on the Evo, like most cell phone cameras, is just not large enough to let enough light in. Plus, I suspect the bitstream is not as great.

Still, it should be leaps and bounds over most other cell phone cameras.

Can you really expect a 4WD crossover SUV to have the offroad performance capabilities and performance of a 4WD pickup truck?

Of course a smartphone won't be as good as a DEDICATED camera that was built specifically for... being a camera, as opposed to a multi-use device.

Does your camera take phone calls, surf the web, and impress your girlfriend? No. But does it take pictures really really well?
