Here are the fruits of my beautiful final day in San Francisco, Enjoy!
Make sure you have "You Tube HD" displaying in the lower right of the screen, if not change the resolution where it says 360 or 480 right below the video.
In San Francisco there is no 4G and I did not have any wireless access so I mounted my EVO, copied the files to my computer, and uploaded them to YouTube. As much as I do not want to leave San Francisco I am actually looking forward to getting home to Philadelphia where we have 4G. I expect that with 4G I could have sent these files directly to YouTube from the phone. The EVO gave a message that the upload was being held for a WiFi connection.

Damn, next to the iTouch, the EVO looks monstrous! Good thing I've already held and HD2 and am not scared off!

If im not mistaken the Ipod Touch is quite a bit thinner then the Iphone it self. So as far as thickness the Ipod Touch does not represent the Iphone very well when it comes to thickness.

Apple Iphone dimensions:

Original:

115 mm (4.5 in) (h)
61 mm (2.4 in) (w)
11.6 mm (0.46 in) (d)
3G & 3GS:
115.5 mm (4.55 in) (h)
62.1 mm (2.44 in) (w)
12.3 mm (0.48 in) (d)

Apple Ipod Touch dimensions:
1st generation:
4.3 in (110 mm) (h)
2.4 in (61 mm) (w)
0.31 in (7.9 mm) (d)
2nd/3rd generation:
4.3 in (110 mm) (h)
2.4 in (61 mm) (w)
0.33 in (8.4 mm) (d)

HTC Evo dimensions:
122 mm (4.8 in) (h)
66 mm (2.6 in) (w)
12.7 mm (0.50 in) (d)

I compiled these from wikipedia. Take it for what it's worth. :)

I took this picture last night of EVO and the Hero. It makes the EVO look too big, but it isn't. The Hero is too small.

BTW, this was talked about before, but I can confirm that the Hero battery works in the EVO.

Edit: @Kojo - The speaker is loud enough. I'm playing music right now with the speaker all the way up, but it's too loud. As far as the quality, well... it sounds a pretty tinny. It's good enough for voice mail and such, but I don't think you're going to want to listen to music or watch a movie through the external speaker.

I really thought this phone was gonna be huge, because of all the reviews.
Normal sized phone, with just more screen real estate.

Even after reading this post? That info just didn't sit well with me. DEALBREAKER.

i don't think you want to use swype. i downloaded the file and wanted to install it on my evo. it gave me this:

"this input method may be able to collect all the text you type, including personal data like passwords and credit card numbers. it comes from the application swype."

you have to agree to use

Deal breaker? On what? The swype keyboard recording keystrokes? If you are that paranoid just dont download it. I guarantee you that half of the legitimate websites on the web do the same. At Least swype includes a disclaimer to warn you, so that if you are not comfortable you can avoid it all together. Or am I just missing something here?

billsmed just totally stole my spotlight! HAHAHA

LOL you bet he did!!!!!!!!!. I am so stoked about this phone.. some of the reviews i saw down played the camera and the video conf part of it, but between Bills and Earls posts and Noahs review .. i am totally confident this phone will meet all my expectations

I don't think so. Your pictures are wonderful and mine are a little different. It's nice that our members can see your pix, earldriscoll's video's and my pictures taken with the EVO.
may i ask which settings are you using for the phone?
Also it's a bit confusin which one is the high quality. it list "high" and "fine" as choices but the order doesn't make sense. so is HIGH better than FINE? or FINE better than HIGH. To my knowledge, in the english definition of fine, it's better but it doesn't classify together with high.

I took those pictures with most of the defaults set, but I chose "high quality" and "widescreen". They were also taken with "auto focus on" which is a default.

I don't see it as being paranoid at all. I downloaded the .apk files but now I am seriously thinking twice before installing them. Swype is possibly going to record keystrokes? Doesn't sound secure for just a regular program to record keystrokes, passwords, cc numbers. WHY is it going to RECORD this info? WHERE is it being stored? Encrypted? Exactly how secure is it? People should ask themselves this info before saying "yes" to that prompt when it asks you if you are ok with this.

Dealbreaker for swype ONLY!

hehe. My best friend and I are hyped about getting this phone, we're going to show off the video chat to as many people as we can.

I pre-ordered the EVO and took that day off as a vacation day. Getting it early morning, also have a coupon for the nearby Chic-fil-a for a free chicken sandwich. Friends in town that week for upcoming class reunion. Being my first android phone, I want to have at least 6hrs to play w/ the phone and know it in detail before I go out partying. I don't want to learn it on the fly and be fumbling around w/ it the whole time.

Almost forgot to add that one by one, coworkers are ditching their Blackberries for Androids now that they support exchange email. I want to have that all set up because they looked up to me once they got their Blackberry because I really knew my way around that OS, so once they see I have an android phone they'll be handing me their phones asking "can you help me w/ this".
