Voice Typing Stopped Working

I rely on voice typing for texting and emails. Recently it has stopped working. When I press the mic icon on the keyboard, nothing happens. The phone still responds to "ok google" command. Phone is a moto x.

was this after an update? what keyboard are you using? have you tried to clear cache for the keyboard?

My phone is set for automatic updates. I use Gboard. I did clear the cache -- no effect. So I clicked on 'uninstall update" and seem to have blown away the keyboard, so now i can only voice type, and can't go get another keyboard on google play (if thats where you get them) because it does't take voice typing.. I've had better days.

Gboard-the Google Keyboard is on the playstore. it should be available for your phone.

yes and it's working just fine -- both keyboard and voice typing. Thanks again.
