Photos on my phone don't show up on PC or HiSuite

I need to move a lot of photos taking up space on my phone, but when I connect the phone to my PC they don't show. This happens if I use the HiSuite interface or when I open the phone's DCIM folder directly in file Explorer. Out of about 400 pics only the most recent half show up. Any ideas?

you should be using google photos. it automatically save your photos to the cloud. i never have to worry about my photos taken. i can even buy a new phone, sign in, and my old photos will be there. are you photos saved to a sd card? or is it only on the phone? do you use a different camera or photo app then what comes preinstalled?

I do use Google photos, but I like organizing/editing my photos on the pc. Plus the quality is better, no compression.

you can download the photos from google photos to the pc and edit that way. not sure how the quality will transfer. i'm not really a photophile, so i can't help on that aspect.
