FM radio tuner

I've been searching for an FM tuner app that is non-internet. Since NextRadio is defunct, I've not been able to find a "tuner". NextRadio allowed me to select local stations. Can anyone offer some suggestions? I've tried so many apps that claim they offer local stations, but they all end up being "streaming"(internet).

it really depends on where you are at and the local stations. not sure how else you would get radio on your phone other then streaming, unless you have a dedicated radio built into your phone. iheart and tunein is what i use and they have most of the local stations but not all.
 
RE: ocnbrze. Thanx for replying. This phone has an FM chipset in it. I was able to have local FM radio prior to And. 10. Next radio is now defunct, and it's earlier version does not operate on And.10. Funny, I found a few apps that "showed" they have a FM tuner, but when I tried to pull them up on "Playstore" I wasn't able to find those apps(???) So, I'll just keep searching... and asking on forums like this. Stay Sharp

Yes, of course. No, I don't want to "stream". You see, this phone has an FM chipset built-in. I want local FM not internet. In order to do that I must have an app that can access that chipset. I used to use NextRadio, but they are now defunct and I can't seem to find any other app that can access the chipset and use it. Thanx for replying
 
I'm still searching for an app that can access the built-in FM chipset on this phone. Anyone have any ideas? NextRadio does not operate on And.10.

Thanx for replying. puppykickr; Could you post what app your using? PitCarver; hmm...I can't get the NextRadio app to work in And.10 [Galaxy A205U] It did work in And.9. Curious as to how it operates in your phone???

Just whatever came built into the device.

I have never used it- the only radio stations that are local and strong enough to be picked up are Country music.
Yuck.
 
If you like, and if this site will allow, I will upload the apk for the FM apps on my devices.
Then post links to them for you.

These most likely will not work on devices that they were not made for, but who knows.

Also, I don't want to annoy moderators on this site, so if any are watching, let me know before I do such a thing.
 
Just as info, my son has à Asus Zenfone 6 ZS630KL and has FM radio, running And 11. It is not in the app section, it is in the quick tools pull down menu.
Wondering what can be done with this...?

In the settings/app section, I do see an "FM Radio" app, but notice that there is no 'Open' button on the bottom of screen when I select it, while others app do.

Probably because you might need another app to access it.

The app on your device is a syatem app, and as such may only provide the service- it may not have a user interface that a third party app would provide.
