Sprint just declined me for service should I still get the phone?

i did go to a sprint store. the manager tried calling the credit people but apparently RS really screwed me up. they didn't even ask me if i was a credit union member to waive activation fees. she told me that RS always messes things up on activations and then they tell people to see sprint to fix things.

can't bring pay stubs because i'm self-employed.

so does anyone know what the downsides are if they open an account without your social security number? and will it really be possible even if they have my other data (drivers license number, address, email, etc..)?

Get your life in order, then worry about pleasentries.

On a lighter note...one time Sprint sent me to collections for 20$. I never knew how, because i always paid my bill early and in full. They couldnt explain to me either how it happened. I honestly thought it a a joke at first.

The best part? A rep from the collections place called me (this is how I found out about it, never had any previous warnings) and he said "I understand money can be short and you may not have the full amount. We can settle this debt today for 12$"

After a solid couple minutes of cackling into the phone I told him that would be fine.

pay your bills, deadbeat!

ok the not doing the credit union thing is a separate issue, has nothing to do with the credit check and ID verification. Actually, by sprint's own policy, the credit check must be done with your address as it is on your ID, unless you bring in other proof of your residence at another address. If you've move, get your ID updated.

my current addy is reflected on my current driver's license. they did ask if i have lived there for at least 2 yrs... i haven't. it's a fairly new place. but by the time june comes around, we'll have made 2 years.

My friend has horrible credit

Default on student loans, massive credit card debt, US celluar like 500 bucks
and ran up like a 100 bucks at a video store keeping porn lol

he did a credit check with sprint
and not only did he not have to pay a deposit but he got a spending limit up to `150 dollars i believe

so this is bizarree

you would think with sprint losing customers so much they'd take what they could get

I got a better one. Last night I went online line and setup a purchase of a $200 phone as a test (I was going to cancel it at the very end of the process before entering a credit card). I used a fake name, fake email and when it asked for my SS# I entered 123-45-6789. Before asking for the payment it does the credit check. It gave me $200 in credit and approved the account. With a FAKE SSN. I can't imagine how they would turn anyone down if this went through the credit check.

thanks for making me feel so much better about my situation.
</sarcasm>

that's so lame of them.

maybe i got flagged for a verification thing because my credit card number got stolen last year. i did get the fake transactions cancelled and a new card issued.

I believe that in this kind of case, they would have canceled the transaction before sending out the phone. It's not actually a finalized decision when it gets to the point of making the payment online.

and in other news, in today's mail it looks like i can get an american express gold card...but i still can't get a sprint phone

=P

i thought we decided that you were declined b/c they couldn't confirm your identity, not b/c you have lousy credit?!

i still think this is doable for you.

I do. My credit is impeccable for someone my age.

What you probably missed since you lack comprehension is that sprint couldnt even explain where that 20$ magically came from. But once it had been sold to a collections agency there isnt anything they could do by that point.

woww, thats horrible.. i never heard of Sprint denying anyone service... :-( I wouldn't get this phone if I was you. What's the point???? try going to BOOST, CRICKET, or even US CELLULAR..

You come off as really condescending in alot of your posts. Thing is , no need for that. You are in android forum talking about the evo. It isn't that serious.

The prick shtick is old now.

I agree.. It's people like that, that shouldn't be allowed on public forums.

it was a joke, dude. your humor comprehension sucks.

you made a prick out of skinny guy, telling him to get his life in order before buying an expensive phone, even though his credit is not the reason he's in this mess. then, you posted about a collection agency calling you. i quoted your two posts in a row to point out the irony.

joke. get it?

yea it is about identity....(that's what the letter said) but i still thought it was kinda funny:D

back to the point. i did email them yesterday. just awaiting response. if they don't contact me by tomorrow, i'll call them on friday. not like i have anything to lose at this point. if i can't retry, then i guess i have to retry in july. and if i fail again, then i dunno. we'll see what the iphone will have in store or if some other new hotness comes out of the pipeline somewhere by that time.

oh, and wouldn't ya know, i screwed up my email too and had to send 2 correction emails to follow up. maybe it's a sign. jeez.

well, looks like i'm doomed until july. sprint rep called and got me thru to the credit people . then they wouldn't even let me speak to a supervisor. just kept getting the broken record "we can't do anything until then."

maybe i should just call them every day.

dude if you're that dead set on getting the EVO, which it sounds like you are (i don't blame you), find a friend or family member on sprint to piggy back on. Rates are drastically cheaper per line on a family plan than on an individual. It'll be cheaper for both you and the other person if you split it down the middle.

This method may be a little inconvenient, but buying the phone full price and flashing it to other carriers isn't any better IMO.
