Xperia X10 Issues List

I've had both sides of the battery life, although more of the worst side. I've had it die (with not much use) after 18 hours and the following day (after I was quick with a task killer app) it was at 90% battery after 24 hours. Of course I never used it once in that 24 hours. The issues I have are the keyboard, which is irritatingly bad, and the fact that some apps just come back all the time after being killed, such as Spotify, which I do not want anywhere on my phone at any time. Similarly that Moxier crap - I'd love to be able to rid my phone of the junk.
 
G'day X10 users.

I upgraded my iphone 16GB 3g to the Sony X10(Australia) about a month ago.

Very new to Android, and Google.

I started reading this thead/forum the day I bought it.

I have tried all the app/task killers, 3G on/off apps, and tried and tested many theorys put forward.

Android 1.6/2.1/2.2 means bugger all to me, but what my own personal tests have proven over the last month (isolation tests) is that turning off "settings/Google sync/Background data will let me get through day, from 7:30 am till, now, 10:33 pm with 50% battery left.

With it on I would need to charge when I got home from work at 6 pm.

after coming from iphone, I am happy. I actually use mine as a phone, with 3g, emails, many texts, facebook updates (20 family friends from overseas, maybe if you have hundreds of redundant friends and it updates their status it will use bandwith and battery !!!!!).

I am new to Android, but I hope to share my experiences and learn from the reading I do here.

Love the X10i. Feels so free to be away from the cult of mac!!

I do how ever have two issues

1) Geotags do not function properly (or the way its expected to) in web apps like Picasa. Big let down for me as I travel lots and love to share my local views with family through picasa and google earth.

2) Just discovered that it dose not play nice with my Motrokr s7 BT headset. I get good sound from it but the controls do not seem to function with the BT stack on the X10i.

That last of cource may not be the SE issue but it sure is a pocket book issue as now I must shop for one that will play nice. Any thoughts on this?
 
Does anyone know whether the X10 can use the stylus pen? I have one here that I used on my LG Eve but it will not work on the X10, I wanted to know whether you can buy one for it or is it just not able to use one.

This issue is resolved in Android 2. 2 with BT smart voice dialing enabled.

The X10 has a capacitive screen and most stylus are for resistive screens (like the LG Eve). There's the Dagi capacitive stylus if you want to the check that out:

I'm surprised that noone has mentioned the absence of widgets for the mediascape application!
 
1. The camera startup time is very slow
2. The Video Camera does not have Auto Focus
3. Stock Keyboard is horrible and slow
4. Charging port stops charging as soon as it hits 100% then starts draining the battery. It should go to a trickle charge untill its unplugged
 
Got mine two days ago.

Seem to have two issues though. In my contacts or in timescape if i press someones facebook update it tries to load touch.facebook.com which never loads. Just sits on about 5% of the page loading and then nothing. If i click someones twitter app it loads twitter pages fine.

The space bar on the keyboard is too small. Keep hitting the full stop when i want a space.

Apart from that im enjoying the phone. Took me a while to drop my htc hero for it but so far i dont mind having done so.

Hi Buddy,

You can do it a few ways.... One way is to take the Micro SD Card out and put it into a card reader and then to go the MEDIA Folder then into the AUDIO Folder and this is the folder where you can drag and drop all of your songs or cut and paste, which ever you like... then just put the card back into your phone... fire it up and start up your Mediascape and click the audio tab....

The other way is to Plug your USB cable into your usb port of your PC then plug the other end into the charging port of your phone..... It will beep and then you'll see the USB icon on the top left of your screen.... Pull down your Status Screen and touch the USB Connected section and then click on the MOUNT tab..... Now you do as above and look for the MEDIA Folder and do the same as above.....
When you're done transferring your music go back to the Status screen and click on the "Turn off USB storage" bar and you're done.... Unplug the cable and you're good to go

Hello Fitzy,

Before turning this off what options did you have enabled? Was both Background data AND Automatic Sync enabled?

I wonder if Background data turned off is the same as Background data ON but automatic sync OFF, when it comes to power usage. In other words, if I have back. data on but automatic sync OFF, will it still comsume more power compared to back data off?

1 - The phone randomly downloaded everything from my Pc's My Music folder when mounted via USB.

2 - I tried deleting things off the phone at a later date, it now says on the mp3's that DID play that there is "no valid licence" and refuses to play them, it still displays the deleted ones, and has now set the memory card to read only, so the camera fails to work.

My old w810i was fantastic for music, with simple controls and an easy to use application to organise playlists etc. What happened with Mediascape, and why can't I just drag and drop like I used to be able to on my now 3.5 year old phone?

Should note I still keep the old phone charged for just this reason, until I find out why I am having so many issues with mediascape.

I had the exact same symptoms, tried everything and took me ages to finally cure it. Wish I had never got this phone. So full of hiccups, its the worst phone I have ever chosen. :mad:
 
1. auto-lock every after phone calls even u tap "end call" instead of power button.
2. (sometimes) late reaction on tap(s)
3. no auto-flash
4. F the moxier thing!!!
5. (sometimes) unresponsive tap
6. no sync from facebook to contacts.., =(
7. (sometimes) alarm clock doesn't alarm.., (almost got me fired)
8. needs a lil bit more on accuracy on keyboard (so sensitive)
9. any weather app on the screen doesn't update..,

This is a deficiency with Android 1.6. When Google update your X10 to 2.1, flash should work

Have you tried a 3rd party keyboard? There's the HTC Sense Keyboard, which I really like. Swype and shapewriter are alternative ways to use a keyboard.

9. any weather app on the screen doesn't update
Have you checked under setting to see what's the refresh rate is set at: Auto, Every ___ hr or never?

Stylus doesn't work on X10's capacitive screen. It needs to "touch skin" to respond :)

All I can say mate is that once you untick (unpress as it were) the top icon it tells you that you might save lots of power, does it not. the other options are no longer avail.

I still get my push email (instantly), my work Cal events (thanks to someone elses advi9ce that I can't remember who but on this forum, facebook updates (tested with the missus on the inside comp), and my providors news stories. And the phone rings when someone else wants to talk to me on it.

So as I said. It all works for me un-ticking it. Since my last post though I have realised that if I don't turn off bluetooth when I am out of my car and at work, or a couiple of games that I played once or twice, and 'left button stopped' will eat away. Bluetooth cause it might always be searching, but games I haven't played in days, I don't know why the show up in the 'usage' thing. So I uninstalled them.

P.S. app killers and 3G/WiFi switchers use more battery power than they save..just my opinion through testing. But I do see it as a market for sales to new android users like us. Do you have an app killer on your PC ?

The CAPS is just my response, not shouting (I never understood why CAPS meant shouting ??). it's just typing at home in your underweR.

Had mine 24 hours. I love the phone! The only thing I think that lets it down is the camera light. I think it should be an auto flash.
 
Just got mine few days ago, and only problem for me so far is the battery, everything else is great.

And about the 1.6 version. Im not so worried about that since SE have announced that we will get an update to 2.1 later in the year. But wether or not it includes multitouch and HD camera, as mentioned around other forums as well, haven't quite been confirmed, but there is alot of talk about it especially the multitouch part.

6- 1GHz processor's performance is marvelous.

7- Camera result is very good and features are satisfactory as well.

8- Some people wrote about keyboard problem but I didn't experience it.

IMO, this phone is really worth buying. One just can't ignore it just because of absence of multi-touch.

Im more then happy whit my X10, had it for about 2 months now and no problems at all..

Issues:

Battery life is the worst I've every come across - I shouldn't have to kill key tasks for the phone to last longer than 12 hours. Other phones seem to manage fine.

Cant get the phone to keep accurate time - find this a bit bizarre.

Other things already mentioned. Its the first phone I have had where there are so many issues.
