Xperia X10 Issues List

Does anyone else's X10 drop WiFi connections regularly. The router had no problem with the TG01, but for some reason the X10 drops connection.

My only other issue is the lack of home screens, three simply isn't enough when your using widgets.

This is not the X10. Its android. It automatically closes wifi connections when the screen turns off. You can disable this in settings

agreed. I need 7 screens. at least a minimum of 5. 3 is not enough.

In comparison to the Milestone would this be worth the upgrade as i am considering i love the look of the phone and having played i dont think i will miss MT too much but i am also looking at the desire when it comes onto O2
Any thoughts are welcome guys???

This does not belong is the DEVICE ISSUE thread, please be careful. But yea, i think it would be worth the upgrade since the keyboard on the milestone is useless anyways, you won't really have much to miss. But it does have a lot of support/hacks for it, the X10 is new and doesn't have all that (yet)

Another issue: their (SE) selling points are "signature applications". From what i've seen so far, they (the scapes) really are applications. It should be no problem for XDA guys to rip it out and cook it for, say Desire.

Which leaves only design and camera (and slightly higher resolution screen) as an advantage over the Desire. Since i would never buy any gadget based only on it's looks, and resolution is not that much bigger, that leaves the camera. And the lack of xenon flash. Why they left that out, i do not know. Makes no sense.

SE has made the impossible again: they have made a bust from what should have been THE next big thing. Just like with X1. At least for me.

I find the top half of the screen seems to need a battering ram to get it to work. but very strange only on the third screen not the first or second? WTF

Games that are for lower res screens do not play well with the "hi" res of this mobile

The sound is way to low in phone calls.

Micro USB port ( still same size width as normal usb mini ) on top it so wrong.
I have not been able to get it to work with any third party Car charger.

Again no option to store app/games on microSD card.

multi touch it is handy for use.

You all do realize that devs will probably get multitouch at least in the browser and some apps once they root the X10.

Multitouch is nice to have, but lately I've just been using Opera Mini so my main use of multitouch is gone and not missed.

Sorry, but they won't. The digitizer hardware is incapable of recognizing more than one touch at a time. No amount of software fiddling is going to add functionality that the hardware simply doesn't support.

With that said, I agree lack of MT isn't a big deal.

Has anyone here got the phone on O2 and if so were they able to perform the software update that came out recently.

Also what does this bring to the table?

I've had my phone for awhile now and these are the things bothering me:

1. The battery (not that bad, but does drain a bit). Mine lasts about a day with average use.

2. The volume level (it's a bit too quiet), can't hear it ring/go off sometimes. As well as not hearing the other person on the phone.

But apart from that all is good and I still love the phone.

I just got it today, I am going to have to get use to it, I have been using the LG Eve for the last 3 months and it is a big step up in performance, I like the sleek look and the bigger screen, there are a few things I didn't like about it, one is the lack of a Flash, it just has the light and also getting use to not having a slide out keyboard and that the OS 1.6 has a lot of changes. And I do not see a FM Radio on it either which is not a big concern, but you think that they would put every feature possible on a new phone like this, I have to learn more about it but for now I love it.

Got my X10 on Wednesday and have been using it extensively since then. This is my first Android device, but I'm loving it. Haven't really come across any issue with it yet. Ringer and call volume seems fine to me (though I may be used to lower volumes as my old iPAQ 910's volume wasn't that great), and battery life has been improving since I've fully cycled the battery a few times (and installing JuiceDefender and StartupAuditor helped too).

I think the reason Sony went with a camera light rather than a flash is that the video light is useful when recording videos, whereas a flash is not.

As for the lack of FM Radio, I think they left that out as the MW600 bluetooth stereo headset Sony introduced along with the X10 (and which is packaged or being offered as a promo with the X10 on some networks) has an FM tuner built in to it.

Does anyone know whether or not there is a way to organize all the apps on the pop up page, On the Eve I had the option to create groups and most were already in groups ie Utilities, Media ect... I have tried to organize them but I cannot find any options, I just do not like the way they are all mixed together, If anyone knows how or an app that will do it could you please let me know

Hi everyone

My main concern is the rate at which the battery dies when the phone is resting in my pocket. I know there may be things running in the background but thanks to this forum I have now downloaded Juice Defender and also Start Auditor.

I have had the phone 2 weeks and will also try the full charge/full drain a few times to see if it improves. I currently get 12 - 14 hours out of a charge - less if calls or emails are used. Not very good eh??

Other than that the usual Android update is awaited but hopefully things will be OK by then.

Best wishes

Billy

Well it's been a few days now since I bought my new X10 and I must say it is a pretty nice phone still but there are a few things that need to be fixed. I have to say the battery life is not good at all, I find it lasts longer than others have stated and there are a lot of applications on it that run in the background, I downloaded Startup Auditor & Juice Defender and have been using those and it seems to work fairly good but still needs improvement, I also noticed from a friend that if you shake the phone the text goes all fuzzy for a second, not sure if this is normal or what, I would also like to see them improve on some more phone options like the ability to organize the applications into groups and not all mumbled together. And some more Home Screens instead of just 3. And as for the camera light, it is a LED so they should have made it that it flashes or can be kept on as a light. I hope that sony can address some of these issues and fix them in future updates.

I am so glad I am back to android and the X10.

I had a Milestone and a Nexus before going back to a 3gs for a bit.

My take:

Battery life: No worse than the Nexus One. Even after a few charge cycles.

Screen: The screen is as a bright as the Nexus but the contrast (with true blacks) is not as good as an AMOLED. X10 is usable in daylight unlike the Nexus, but not as clear as the 3GS in bright sunlight.
BIG PLUS: Screen is as wide as the 3GS which means that text entry is easier compared to the Nexus and Milestone which have more narrow screens (different than the diagonal measurements listed-width is key)
Minus: No multi touch sucks but Sony is implementing a few upcoming features that will be similar to the pinch zoom found in the xScope browser. Is a lack of multi touch a killer? To be honest the only place I really miss it is when viewing PDFs.

OS: Yes 1.6 sucks ass. I really hope this phone gets rooted soon. Biggest complaint with 1.6 is the crappy slide features in the call screen compared to the unified screen in 2.0+

Looks: Subjective yes, but I think the X10 looks better than the Nexus (maybe not the Desire) and much nicer than the 3GS.

Quality: This is a tough call. Plastic cases have their benefits with weight reduction but they are not as durable or scratch resistant (*read: throw this sucker in a case or pouch). Screen is mineralized glass like the iPhone meaning it is scratch resistant to an extent.

Sony Touches/UI: Sony took their time with this phone. It shows in the small number of bugs compared to the Nexus (I was ready to throw the Nexus at a wall when the screen kept freaking out or losing x/y calibration during text input). The Timescape features are nice but they are not Sense UI. I would have preferred Sense.

Camera: A bit slow to launch. Image stabilization seems a tad limited, and there is no option for ISO settings. Photo quality is great but I think the Nexus was almost as good. Hopefully a new firmware will improve this.

Connectivity/Browsing: Wow is this phone fast. I found it faster at rendering pages than the Nexus (and much faster than the 3GS lol). Speed tests gave me a better average result than the Nexus (but not by much)

Final call/verdict: I would buy this phone again if I had the choice.

I have an X10 from Rogers (only for 2 weeks to review), and I noticed something about charging the phone, wondered if you have seen the same. (BTW: This was a brand new phone)

The only charger in my box was a USB cable that plugs into a "plug head" that plugs into the wall. Is this the proper charger, or is there another?

I plugged the X10 in last night to charge (to a wall socket), around 12:00 am, when it still had about 15% charge. By 8:30 this morning it was only at 88% charge!!! Have you noticed the same? By the way, I had/have WiFi & Data turned off while charging, and used TaskPanel to kill all background tasks while it was charging.

I also noticed that you cannot actually charge the phone when it is off. I tried multiple times shutting the phone "off", and each time I plug it in, it turns itself on and boots up!

So I'm wondering if this is because of the type of charger, something wrong with the battery, or that's just the way the X10 charges?

If it's just how the X10 charges, imagine that someone whose phone is almost dead or dead plugs it in to charge before they go to bed, and when they are ready to leave for work in the morning it's still not fully charged!

Another thing I don't like about the X10: Icon rows on the home screen. The screen of the X10 is so big and beautiful that there is space available to add at least on more row of icons or more widget space, but the X10 does not take advantage of this. There are still only 4 rows available for icons and widgets. You end up with a lot of empty space between rows. That may be a subjective thing, and some people might not care, but it looks strange to me, and I would really like to take advantage of the extra space to add more icons.

...I also noticed from a friend that if you shake the phone the text goes all fuzzy for a second, not sure if this is normal or what...

That's normal assuming you have "Orientation" (ie: auto-rotate) enabled in the settings (which it is by default). When you turn the phone on it's side, the screen goes fuzzy for a second as it switches to a landscape orientation. If you're shaking the phone, it's quite possible the sensor is getting confused and things you are switching orientations, thus the fuzziness.

i have my x10 for about two weeks now and i'm really speechless about the phone. i mean it's the best Sony Ericsson phone i ever had. ^_^

for those with keyboard problems: use the android keyboard if you're having problems with the standard keyboard.

battery is now lasting for about two days with extreme texting, wifi and media usage. turn off 3G, bluetooth, and gps if you don't use it. best solution to make your battery last longer.

no concerns about the phone but with the android market. there are too many stuffs that do the same thing. i'm having hard time to pick which ones to use.

the best thing about buying the x10. i'm the only one in our office using x10 and android. everyone else is using iPhone 3gs.

1. Not having multi touch isn't HUGE but I would have it if it was an option.
2. Im happy with the screen
3. 1.6 I recon that will be a constant issue with this phone. getting Timescape to work with it properly.

It happened to me first time when I forgot to check settings-data sync -gmail. I also make sure that all the boxes for Google sync were checked.
Hope this helps.
