Ok this will be fun... I ride a V-Star 1100 Classic

2002vstar1100classic.jpg

I had mounted my Pre on the bike for GPS, speedometer (since the V-Star's speedo is set to low to continually look at it and is off by 5MPH) and yes texting which is a pain in the ass on a motorcycle with a small Pre keyboard, for long trips (upwards of 600 miles).

Now I need to mount the EVO... Since Sprint NAV will do landscape (along with google nav) I would like a secure wind-resistant motorcycle phone or universal GPS mount... any ideas?

BTW, only issue I had with the Pre was if the sun hit the screen directly, I saw rainbow circles and scratches on the screen... and could only really read the screen at night time.

didn't know google maps did landscape. theres a lot of gps mounts out there that would fit the evo. had mounted my iphone on my gsxr couple of years ago, it was difficult to mess with with my gloves on.

I don't know either..was just assuming (yes i know what assuming does) ... I rarely use gloves unless its cold since .. but I heard there are some capacitative touchscreen gloves available also

I also have a VStar1100 Classic. I am also a machinist so I have made several custom 1off pieces for my bike. One of the pieces I have made was a mount for my IQ3600 GPS. Once I see what the car mount is all about I will no doubt reverse engineer a mount for my Star so I can use the EVO as a GPS while riding. Seigex, where are you located?

i'm gonna take a chance and say the EVO won't support google maps in landscape. I've had google maps on the iphone, mytouch, nexus, hd2, and even my sister's palm pixi. None of em support google maps in landscape.

Found a website for DIY capacitative effective gloves

Making A Glove Work With A Touch Screen

interesting...

Beautiful bike... I like the custom pipes.. I was thinking about doing one pipe on each side.. but with i'm not sure if the clearance will work ok with the clutch location and the floor boards on the left side...

Nice, I grew up in Huntington Beach, moved to Oregon in '89. Love it here but for some reason it seems to rain here LOTSSSSSS. One of my brothers lives in Temecula. You should come up here to do some riding, some of the most beautiful senic riding anywhere.

I want to do the same, think if you route the pipe foward then loop it back it will be fine. Just havent taken the time to do it.

I'm always looking for a place to ride.. might have to set something up for the summer... only issue I have is that I can't pump my own gas... damn hippy state :)

This is my iPhone setup on my CBR1000RR.
I'm hoping to find something similar for the EVO. I
'll have to replace the charger cable as well. Damn..hate opening the fairings.

damn now thats nice.... I added a cigarette lighter to the side of my bike so I just use a Cigarette -> USB converter to charge mine

I would not feel safe having a phone attached onto the bike like that. I mean, one of those times it could be left a little loose...
Having it be a webcam while riding would be awsome though :)

I've dragged knee with the phone on the mount and it held rock solid. The mount was made for my model so it's a super snug fit.
