Difference between Incredible or EVO4g?

Evo has 4g(not in many places), front camera(i would never use), and bigger (bulkier) screen. and... sprint(lol)


Incredible has Verizon.
 
the phones are really similar... do u want verizon's service or a bigger phone with a worse screen but hd out and 720p and a front camera? your decision
 
I would suggest posting this in the Evo's forum section to so you can compare their one sided opinions to the ones coming in here. I for one have pre-ordered the Evo, but will not hesitate to use sprints 30 day guarantee once i see some direct comparison between the two. My current phone is pitiful and on T-Mobile so it's a win win for me.
 
Evo's probably the better phone. If you don't mind the extra $10/month charge for the 4G coverage. and if you actually live in a 4G area.

Frankly I'd prefer the Incredible on Verizon than the EVO on Sprint. But if the EVO was on Verizon? Then, it's a bit better than the Incredible. But just a bit.

Not according to this reviewer:

Bottom line, he thinks the Incredible is better. You think battery life on the Incredible is bad? He reports that he can barely get 4 hours out of the EVO without using 4G. :eek:
 
Plus even with Sprints 10 buck add its going to be cheaper than VZW. Just make sure the service works some places they rock others they blow. While I like the inc better I wouldn't mind an evo if it was gonna save me some coin

1. the Incredible has 8gb of internal memory- the Evo has 1gb
2. both can expand to 32gb of external
3. Evo 720p -Incredible std but is capable with programing
4. both have 1ghz Snapdragon processor
5. Incredible Amoled screen - Evo TFT screen
6. Evo front camera - Incredible rumored front camera in light sensor
7. Evo 4.3 size - Incredible 3.7
8. Incredible optical trackpad - Evo none

So basically they're about even with the Incredible having more memory. I would go with the Incredible like I did for the pocketbility. The Evo is just a little too big.

Wishful thinking/dreaming. No way that is true. Not. A. Chance.
 
Nobody here, or on any other forum really, can answer this question properly, as the EVO is not in any (or many) consumers' hands. All we can go off of is information released by tech sites, Sprint, HTC, etc. If you want real comparisons, you'll have to wait until more reviews are out and/or the phone is released.

That said, here are my thoughts on the subject.

I debated trading in my Incredible for the EVO, but it came down to this. I love the Incredible. There is nothing the EVO can do, other than 4G, that the Incredible can't that I actually care about.

720p video? In all my years of having video on my cellphone, I might've used it three times. Plus, Engadget says the "720p" is being generous in terms of actual quality.

Front facing camera? I admit this is a great feature, but I don't see it really being used in the near future. Everyone I know has video chatting capabilities on their laptops. Those I know that actually use it, myself included, use it on a very rare occasion. It has not caught on enough yet to make it useful, especially on cellphones.

4G? This is what almost got me to give it a shot. I live in Seattle where there is supposedly good coverage and 4G. Reading reviews, however, makes it sound like the 4G really only works on the streets (i.e. inside a building and goodbye 4G). Add to that that it will eat battery, and I can hold off for what Verizon has in store next. My 3G flies.

Other reasons I kept the Incredible:

Battery life on my Incredible is excellent. Others have had complaints, and I also didn't want to risk giving up my Incredible only to get an EVO that has awful battery life. Given its screen size, 4G, and other features, I can't imagine it'd last as long as my Incredible battery does (30-36 hours lately).

The Incredible is almost too big for my pocket and holding to my ear for extended periods of time, I worried the EVO would flat out be too big.

Incredible has better screen (except in sunlight).

Incredible has the optical trackpad which I find very useful when typing messages, emails, etc.

Verizon is just so much better than Sprint.

When it came down to it, there was nothing I could use to justify giving up Verizon's network, which is far superior to Sprint's. Plus, I pay $64/mo on Verizon and Sprint would've been $80, making it harder to justify.
 
Stupid question on the Incredible; can they push a 4G update to the Incredible when Verizon rolls out there LTE network; or would it need a new antenna?

I'm not even surprised that EVO uses that much battery. A few things, TFT LCD uses more energy compare to AMOLED, EVO has 4.3inch! CDMA uses more battery life too!

And 4G of course.
 
The question really becomes does the physical specs of the Evo outdo the superior service of Verizon for ya? Verizon has 50% the drop call rate as Sprint and has better 3g coverage. Or are you in a place with good 4G reception from Sprint?
Are you really going to be holding video chats on your cell phone? Being that the cell phone most likely has to be put down to make good use of it. I would say most wouldn't use that feature that much.
Evo has a bigger screen, but Incredible is big enough and has a better screen being AMOLED and both phones run at the same resolution which should have the incredible have a sharper picture.
Evo doesn't have the onboard storage like the Incredible does (1gb to 8gb) which makes me think you'll have less app storage space (Incredible has 760mb I think). Not to mention you don't need a microsd card out of the bag for the Incredible.
The Evo doesn't have a way besides your finger of going back and editing text. The optical joystick also doubles as the exposure button of the camera in a nice way for the Incredible.
4g is the biggest advantage the Evo has over the incredible, and its not much of an advantage.
 
The Evo only looks better on paper. The reality of it is far from great.

1. 720p recording on the Evo looks like garbage due to the high compression used. It a pure marketing gimmick on the Evo

2. WiMAX kills your battery in 3 hours. Yes 3 hours. Pretty pathetic and its all due to the high 2.5ghz frequency WiMAX uses.

3. Evo has portability issues for many people. Difficult to bring along with you due to its large size.

4. Evo uses old TFT LCD technology for its screen. AMOLED is superior.
 
Techcrunch's perspective is correct, but unless you are a die hard Sprint fan, I do not see how one can rationalize the EVO is a better overall device and experience:

1. VZW 3G coverage is better than Sprints 2.5g coverage, 3G for Sprint is Tmo level weak. I should know, I just left Tmo after 8 years and we have Sprint and VZW for our company BB plans. Also, 4G is a pipe dream for most for at least another year.

2. Inc has over three times the apps space storage out of box (224mb verses 748mb). The EVO's 224mb is strange, since it has a 1gb rom. There should be about 600mb free- not 224mb- Why?

3. Inc also has 6.6gb for media

4. Hotswappable microsd card

5. Inc only has a 512mb rom, but only the OS and stock apps us it. Third party apps go to the 748mb of allocated flash.

BTW, people assuming the 720p output of the EVO will be HD home theater quality are delusional fanboys.
