Gimmie the real OTA already......

Its barely been 2 weeks since the I/O. They said June and now its june so give it a little bit. Got 30 days this month. Were on 5. Plenty of time to do some last minute cleanup work and tidy up stuff. Then before ya know it we get a rock solid OS to mess with that no one else will get for a while. We as Nexus One owners got a good thing few have...Dont spoil yourself in it( Yea right..lol) just appreciate it.:D:D

Maybe they are working on the fixing bugs, I would rather wait a few weeks and get a better build. I am using the unofficial release and I have had no problems.

I don't know about you guys, but Im beyond the point of excitment now. I think Google has just ruined the fun of waiting for this update. Now I just wanna load froyo and move on. The excitment of it has run out for me. The least Google could have done was give us a release date instead of saying "will be released shortly". If there waiting for the iphone release to try to steal some thunder...then shame on them, because they should be looking after us first and who gives a damn about iphone....were android users for a reason!

common ma, its a well know issue. I severely doubt your the only one to see all the apps

There's gotta be more people able to see the apps. You're right, I don't think I'm the only one seeing them. Maybe there's something else to it and maybe that's why there's a delay in the official release. I'm sure there are various issues with various phones, even with the same OS version and hardware. I do know that some of the apps I was using before are not working properly but I am able to still see the other apps in the market by doing a search.

An example would be that I have a horrible 3G signal where T-Mobile actually has a good signal for it (my MyTouch was awesome for that previously). Many others are having that same issue but many are not. Even though it's the same phone and same OS.

DO you want Google to release it fast with bugs? I rather wait and have it polished off! IT will come and you'll be the first with 2.2.

The Apple talk is just speculation anyways.

Relax..... Everything's under control!

Ugh!!! Fine!!! Ill just sit back and relax. But I gotta tell ya...I'm impatient *pouting*

I don't know. I'm getting that same bad feeling I got right before Google announced they were closing their online store.

I'm afraid they are yanking the tethering and wifi hotspot feature, or some other bad news. Kinda a coincidence that ATT came out with new data plans this week, along with ending unlimited plans. When folks voiced this concern earlier, I was sure it was just worrying. Now I'm not so sure.

Anyway, Google seems to get quiet when bad news is on the horizon. I hope this is not the case here.

I was thinking the same thing Air Force One, perhaps the "delay" is concerning them having to implement metering for tethered data into the OS. I don't care about tethering one way at all, since I don't even own a laptop. I can certainly understand the appeal though.

So you're saying you can see copy protected apps? Not just paid, but protected? Look and see if you can find Pure Calendar (agenda not grid). I know that's copy protected. I don't know why you'd be able to see these apps. We're all on FRF50.

if they start takeing things out like tethering to please networks that arnt even in the country am from, the uk. then ill be geting rid of the nexus and android altogether.

What if the OTA update will be different to the Froyo update we all applied(or maybe not all), will we be able to install it on top of leaked one or we will have to downgrade to 2.1 and then apply OTA?

A Google employee answered this over at the official forum saying that we will still get the OTA even if we installed the leaked version. Also why would they remove tethering or wifi hotspot? These are some of the best features of froyo after all...

to please the carrier....

LOL, there are alot that would prefer not to root. myself being one of them but i hear what you are saying

Moot point to remove it on all honesty, just root and you have it again anyway. lol! :D
Yeah not all of us want to deal with rooting, especially since (as of now) there's no going back for N1 users and our warranty is voided with the Scarlet Letter/Unlocked symbol on our phones.

Quite frankly, the tethering and WiFi Hotspot capabilities are on the end of the list of things I want in this release. I really don't see many instances where I would use these things. I know that a number of people WOULD use them, but if AT&T somehow locks down these features I won't be lighting the torches in protest.

Still, I really do want the Froyo update. I'm getting real annoyed with the lack of Flash when I navigate the internet.

Honestly, I have not rooted and don't plan too, yet, however, if they don't offer it natively, there are still apps on the market that allow it.

If they remove it, then they will have to remove the apps on the market for it as well.

I don't see it happening. Nice thing about Android, even if they remove it from the market, they can just let us download the APK from a web site and poof, we still have it. The only way they will be able to totally rid Android of this is to go to some *cough*Apple*cough* app store with strict restrictions.

Sorry, I don't see this happening.

I am not sure where this rumor started about them removing tethering, but whoever starts this crap with no reliable sources need to be locked into a basement and pelted with iPhones until they understand that this crap is just ridiculous.

You guys really have nothing to complain about. :D

Some devices were promised 2.x releases, and are still stuck with 1.6. On the Galaxy (I7500), we're waiting for a functional 2.1 ROM, and Froyo is already coming out. And the device is fairly new! (It's still in the "spotlight" stand in my local stores, as the shiny new device...)

@Roze: That's a lot of apps! I guess the only place where the Galaxy shines is the 8gb internal storage, with 800Mb for apps. Try to fill that up! :P

EDIT: Oh, and if I didn't come here, I'd be stuck with 1.5 on my phone. Samsung really doesn't care about this product.

geat point but dont the apps charge? maybe the key word is free.

*_* I can download the whole market ...and more with that much memory!!! You definitely don't need Apps2SD with 800mb!!!

I think it's a big overseight on most of the Android phones that partition the RAM for internal memory : < Since RAM is max 512mb...which is not a lot when you use it for internal memory -_-;
