Difference HD2 and Desire

T-Mobile do the HD2 and with the JV you'll get the best of both worlds with regard to their joint networks. They are working to have free roaming across their networks by September 1st this year.

So it may not be a big thing to move to the T-Mobile brand.

T-Mobile is apparently a better signal in my area than Orange. So it is worth a look. Not sure how good or efficient their insurance is?

Hi

I have had a windows mobile in various guises for over 7 years

3. Camera
Again sorry WM but no contest i always put up with the bad cameras on the WM phones thinking you cant have it all and have to sacrifice some things to have a smartphone , not on the desire the flash is excellent the pics taken are superb , no lag after pressing the button etc, put it this way whenever i wanted to take a pic in anything other than great conditions with the HD i actually didnt bother and missed loads of opportunities but now 2 presses and 9 times out of 10 an excellent pic, Must also mention that the video capture is also miles ahead of any WM phone i have had no jerkiness abd it's all in sync.

I was under the impression the HD2 and Desire had the same camera?
Am I wrong?

Hi again

They probably do but the software is certainly different i always found that the autofocus was slower and the lag after pressingthe take button was much worse .

Again just my opinion but the desire camera is much better and i find i use it now

Just given my HD2 to my youngest son. Not because I wasn't happy with it - it was a stonking phone. I actually think it is better built than the Desire - more sturdy and the back is metal and well fitting unlike the plastic creaky one you get on the Desire.

That said, the Desire runs Android 2.1 and is upgradable to 2.2 at the end of June (so say many internet forums). As a new OS, I think support for Android and the thousands of Apps will be around for much longer than Microsoft continue to support WM6.5 - I understand the HD2 will not be able to upgrade to WM7 when it is released so how long support for 6.5 will last afterwards is anyones guess. Also, will WM7 apps be able to be run on WM6.5? Probably not, and if Microsoft stop support for 6.5, how long will it be before apps for 6.5 dry up. Questions, questions, questions....

The HD2 is a nice phone, but there are more apps, support and more longevity in the Desire. The Desire is more fun, but the HD2 is more business orientated.

Pay your money , take your choice.
