Help Weird haptic feedback feeling.

DarkNeo

At first i though that the slight clicking I felt while typing was due my Seidio case. But after removing it, I noticed that it was still there. Its a slight clicking feeling as you type when you get the haptic feedback. Sometime when typing on the screen but most of the time when Im typing and go press one of the screen buttons. Almost like the haptic feedback motor is causing something to click on the phone physically. Anyone else having this issue?

i also felt/heard this. ever so faintly and not very often. i kept doing it up to my ear and the only thing i could come up with is the vibrate weights are making a tiny clicking sound when they are moved really quickly like when you type. i turned all feedback off anyway, seems to run smoother. but i wouldnt worry about it. my guess is it will break in some and stop doing it. if it gets worse, take it back. pm me and keep my posted please and ill do the same for you. thanks.

I will do that . Its not really annoying but just feels weird. You get the normal haptic vibration then just a weird one.

Hopefully when my brother comes back from vacation I can compare my phone to his. You think BB will exchange it for a new one?

idk they might kinda look at you funny :/ plus if its like mine it doesnt do it consistently. id wait it out. you might find you need to get a new one for a bigger reason who knows. i dont use haptic feedback anyway. with no feedback it seems much smoother typing.

My vibration has randomly stopped using the 4 touch buttons at the bottom and when I type. Stopped all of a sudden.

And yes, the keyboard haptic feedback is different and less consistent than what you get on the Incredible.

Ive turned it off for now, the haptic feedback for the 4 buttons is still on and it still does it there too. If my brothers isnt doing it Im going to ask and tell them its not normal if my brothers doesnt do it. Im paying the damn 10 dollar a month insurance so they better :D

u can shut the vibration off on the 4 buttons too. although i do like having it on the 4 buttons im used to no feedback now

I can't get the feedback to turn off for testing and typing on here. Any help would be appreciated.

go to settings - keyboard and language and look for haptic feedback. theres a couple diff settings u can turn off. i think theres haptic and vibrate and u can also turn those off for the 4 buttons at the bottom.

How on earth did I miss that? lol

Thank you so much dude. I also turned on the sound feedback which I loved on my 3GS before they turned it down on an update.

One of the first things I did was turn of the haptic feedback options. My girlfriend didn't turn hers off. I used her phone for a little bit today and it actually startled me a little when it shook at me. So annoying I had to quit using her phone.

Had my Evo for about a week. Does the same think you are describing. It makes a weird clicking sound when I press on the return, backspace buttons on the lower right of the virtual keypad. You can feel it a little. Goes away if you turn off the haptic response. A little annoying. If you can live with it... I don't think it will cause future issues. Might exchange mine... with them being in short supply don't know how feasible that is though.

I have this issue and it's driving me nuts. It's minor but very annoying, especially since I like haptic feedback. I wonder if it is enough of a reason to do an exchange

You have the braille setting for the blind checked in you're settings. Go into settings and listen for it. You can't see it of course because it's for the blind obviously. You'll find it.

_That_ was funny.

And now for something completely what-will-they-think-of-next:

VBraille: Haptic Braille Perception using the Touch Screen and Vibrator on Mobile Phones

We have developed a way to haptically present Braille characters on a mobile phone touch screen with the phone's vibrator, called V-Braille. Studies so far have shown that with minimal training, V-Braille can be used to read individual characters and sentences. There is a potential for using a standard mobile phone with deaf-blind users who rely solely on tactual perception to receive information. We are also currently testing this with our Braille games listed above, with blind and low-vision children in elementary and middle school. Code Repository

Going to chime in on this one. My EVO 3 weeks old started making that rattling sound only when texting and using the back button which normally you got the haptic feedback. Now I can barely feel any haptic feedback at all. You can hear the motor spinning if you put it to your ear but the sensation of vibrating is almost gone. Weird thing is if the phone rings or notifications come in it vibrates just fine. Go figure?!? Taking it to a repair center tomorrow to see WTF is going on. My buddies EVO's haptic vibrations are way stronger then mine are now which is how I remember it. Will keep you guys posted....
