I will not receive my Droid until Monday. I am a little surprised at all the problems being reported by some new owners. I have working knowledge of laws related to consumer electronics and warranties. My suggestion is...If you purchased a Droid and it is not working correctly immediately notify Verizon (return it). Let them know you are not happy and want the matter documented. If they try to talk you out of swapping the phone out for a brand new one do not fall for it. If the phone is not functioning correctly they must replace the phone with a brand new one. I believe the stated warranty on the phone is one year, but many states have implied warranties which will cover the phone longer (as long as it does not show damage). If the replacement does not work correctly, once again call and complain and request that your call be documented. It is very important that your calls be documented (phone bill will show the call). If you do not get any satisfaction from Verizon (I am sure they will try to make you happy) tell him/her you will file a complaint with your states Office of the Attorney General, Consumer Division. It may help. If it does not help, call the AG's Office. I am only suggesting the above because many people are reporting significant problems and some are not saying they are returning the phone. One more thing....

If the phone is not focusing and the pictures are blurry- Return it.

If the phone is rebooting on its own- Return it.

If the phone is not operating as it is supposed to - return it.

But, if you can't get it to sync something, play a movie or it won't do things that the iPhone did...enjoy the phone and new software will come soon-I hope.

The camera sucks but I'm fairly certain that software should be able to improve that as well. Honestly the droid can't take pictures in anything but the best of lighting conditions.
 
Haha, this thread is really needed. There have been too many "Freezing", "Camera makes sounds", and "It randomly reboots, is it normal?" threads.

Correct. They have always been willing to help. Sometimes, I have to push some 18-year old out of 'salesperson mode' and focus on exchanging the phone, but I always wind up with the right thing being done by Verizon.
 
First of all. Please do not call other posters morons. It is impolite and uncalled for.

Second, you should return a phone especially if it is rebooting randomly. This is a brand new phone it should be working top notch the second you power it on. If it isn't then there is a problem. Also, from what I can tell by other posts here, getting a new phone seems to solve the problem.

You are paying good money for this device and should expect it to work properly out of the box. I am a very technical user and I would not put up with that from ANY manufacturer. If the problem is hardware related, it needs to go back. If its a software bug, an OTA update will most likely be available a month from now fixing many of the phones glitches.
 
Although I am one of those people who tries to work out my own problems first, I have to agree with build - not only was that post previous rude, but highly thoughtless. Not everyone has the time, energy, or know how and skill set to attempt to fix these sorts of problems on their own. I am a techie in my own right, and my phone is not pairing with my computer - tomorrow, I go to the VZW store with my laptop and see if it will pair with the phone there. If it will, then I obviously have some sort of issue on my phone that I should not have - and thus a return is warranted.

You say to fix the problem yourself - however, in your zeal, you forget that this is a new phone, and most people are not buying more than one - so they have absolutely no basis for comparison at all. The best thing to do is to take it in to the store and let the personnel there take a look - if they can show the problem is system wide with all DROIDs running A2.0, then take it back home and be happy. If, however, other phones behave as expected and this one phone does not, you can bet even money that keeping it at home and trying to fix is will be an exercise in futility.

Build's comments also weight heavily into this discussion,as those points are also extremely valuable input to your very narrow (and caustic) POV. You really should take a step back and look at the bigger picture. not everyone has your skill set and is able to solve problems methodically as you can, and for them the best alternative is to get a working phone rather than spend hours trying to fix it only to have a continual jaded POV regarding their new DROID.
 
Does anyone know if I bought my Droid at one BestBuy if I can return it / get a new one from a different BestBuy? I picked mine up on the way home from school and now I'm an hour away from the store I got it at and there seems to be an issue.
 
Yes you can return it to another BB. If the sales person does not know that ask for the manager. You can return any product you buy from one BB to another.
 
If you need to replace the phone, do you have to repurchase whatever apps you've gotten? Or is there a way to keep them / transfer them to the new phone?

I wonder if there are different revisions of this phone, or if something really has happened to some of them - some are performing flawlessly and some, well, not so flawlessly....
 
i know if fedex messes up the phone im getting, or if someone opened the box im taking it back asap. im OCD and if i see prints on the screen or any signs of the box being dropped or opened its going back and ill get one at the store when they get thier new shipment. hopefully these arent refurbs. i hate getting refurbs from vzw.
