Accessories Extended battery door: power button issue

Bearly

Android Expert
I have taken off and reinstalled the extended battery door several times now. Each time, I have an issue where the power button feels more recessed and loses the feedback it had with the stock back plate.

I can press the button but have to press a bit harder, and the button does not stick out as much as before.

Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, but now that I'm getting used to pressing the forward edge of the button it's not really bothersome.

Jeezus, can we work for HTC or something? Lots of modding and tweaking and power issue fixing in these forums.

Yeah, what the hell did you sand? The case?

The extened battery back. The top button seems to be bound up a little so I sanded the small lip that surrounds the top button. All I did is sand it a little so the button wasn't getting stuck because of the poor fit.

Can you show us a picture (close up) ?

I'm curious what the sanding looks like after the fact (cosmetically).

Would really appreciate it.

I have the sticking power button problem with the extended battery cover on my replacement phone I got last week, but I did not have a problem with my original Dinc I received the day they came out. I will try the sanding suggestion. Thanks!

My modded VZW silicone case covers the power button, with a little nub inside to make pushing the button easier. Now it's easier to push it than with the stock battery cover and no case!

I just took a nile file emery board and sanded it down and now fits perfectly after 3 test re-fits

that is exactly what i did, too, because i had the same problem. i also used my manicuring scissors (just one side) to shave it slightly. when you first start using the nail file, it appears that it is going to damage or scratch the surface, but as soon as you blow it off or rub it, it's gone. it's perfect. i would advise just using the nail file, because it really just requires a very small amount of room for the button to come back up correctly. i filed not just the middle of the button area, but either side, as well. it was fast, easy and it looks totally normal.

since this is such a known issue with the new back covers, i think we should all give htc some feedback on it. think i will head over to do that now.
