Root Local rooters willing to root?

I did do something a little different out of desperation. I converted my card to a "Gold Card". I also used an old 32MB card that I had lying around from when I got my LG Dare...maybe it was before that. Anyway, if you want to try to format to Gold Card format, the link I used to learn how was:

They take you through the basic process, and link to the other pages and files you need. If you give that a try, I hope that makes a difference. Good luck!

I'm trying any and all options so I'll give it a try. I did format a 2g to NTFS but to no avail. I also got my 8g in the mail last night and gave it a try...again no joy (why was I not surprised). I think I'll go pick up that 2g card from Walmart everyone says works. :eek:

WELL I got root today using the 10 minute video. However it doesn't seem to work. It looks like I have root and I have the SU app (and it seems to work ) But apps either claim I dont have root and stop or they do say I have root but then cant run. It's like only half of the SU is working.

I did get it to work as an "N" class wifi. Its really fast! You can see a BIG difference. But that was configured from recover.


If anyone as a clue as to what may be causing it or how to fix I would greatly appreciate the help .

You didn't finish the process correctly.
probably a typo in here:
ln -s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su
chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su
or incorrect files in the tools folder

Thats' what I thought (that it didn't stick) But I have redone it several times and even unrooted and did it from scratch. I also did copy and paste for the commands so if they're wrong then a lot of other would have had this problem. I used the 10 minute video and the doc from the other thread " The PRS Complete Rooting Guide" thread. I even used the Incredible rooter program someone wrote and every times it's the same deal. :confused:
 
clear out your tools folder contents (adb.exe and something else wont go, but ignore that) in c\sdk\tools and copy/paste "Simple HTC Droid Incredible Root"sdk\tools folder contents into it and try again.

What is that and were do I find it? A search brought up multiple threads and I'm at work and can't go through them all now. But if that is just the rooter program someone wrote I already did that also.

No I used a Sandisk 8g from Amazon but the sales receipt was from E Bay.

I didn't buy it just for rooting. I just happened to have ordered one and it apparently has a good record. I have no fear at all of not getting root again. I got it for like $15.00 including shipping on Amazon. You'll find many at 5.00 or 6.00 bucks but they pad the price with a 6.95 shipping fee. In the end they all seem to add up to $15.00 LOL.

But after messing around I think SU is working. It's just wifi tether that isn't working now. I've downloaded many root only apps and none of them have had any trouble.

I wonder if the wifi "N"" is messing up the tether? It is using a different or altered driver ????? I'd rather have the wifi tether nust for thee cool factor:D But hey the wifi is pretty zippy now..

Well, the OP got his Inc rooted so I'll try to use this thread, too. Anyone in Northern VA/DC area that has rooted their Inc and wouldn't mind taking a crack at mine?
