Orange (UK) 500MB Per Month Enough?

mokster

Newbie
Hi all,

A newbie here. I recently got the HTC Hero from Orange and am loving it.

I have 3G constantly on and according to the NetCounter, I am using around 6 - 7 MB daily. However, I have yet to surf the Web, use Google Map or go on YouTube over 3G. I also use WiFi at home for browsing, getting Apps from Market etc... I believe my main "background" uses of the 3G are:

Googlemail
Outlook Exchange Update (limited to 20KB per mail)
BBC News Widget
Dilbert Daily Widget
Built-in Facebook Update

With the Orange limit to 500MB per month, which works out to be around 16MB per day and I use around 6 - 7 MB for "background" tasks, it doesn't give much room for Google Maps, YouTube's and the likes?

Just want to see how other people use 3G on their Hero.

Use WiFi instead when you get the opportunity (such as when at home) - it will protect your allowance for when you are out and about.

Does your 500 Mb cover downloads only? Or both up and downloads? Makes a huge difference! I am at the end of my billing cycle and I clocked slightly over 250 mb with usage of approximately 2 hours a day on hsdpa.
