FRF72 Update

I've updated to the new firmware and now have issues with the proximity sensor turning off the phone when on a call. Can anyone else confirm this?

Mine only seems to work when it's at an angle similar to that which it would at, at my ear. If I lay it flat, it doesn't work if I cover the sensor. Hold it up and it works fine. Not noticed if that's the usual behaviour before though. Also, if the speaker is on, it won't work.
 
Ok after updating to the newest update my 3g seems to have gotten worse,but only with data. calls and texts are fine but when i hit something that requires data it get stuck and says no connection. I dont know if its the update or maybe my sim took a crap but unless im on wifi i cant do anything. Along with that swype not keeps crashing, i can use it sometimes but cant 5 monutes later.

So when i saw this I said ok let me back up my apps and stuff and reset the phone. Went into astro and backed up everything. Reset the phone. everything restored fine except for all of my paid apps. Then i go into the market to retrive , guess what. Thats right! there all not there and if i search for them none come up! Im so pissed off! I want my damm MLB at bat back!!

Sorry to hear the bad news BigMerf.

I figured I didn't even want to touch the new #72 Froyo update, since I already have a working #50 version, until Google officially come out with real one. Too many bug's that could potentially come up.

Have to re-download your apps again?

Im a bit confused, I can see all the new buzz about the OTA 2.2 update, but is this the FRF50 build, or FRF72?

I'm on FRF50 and I'm not sure if I should update or not.

I did try and got a security error, just wondering if this is me trying to downgrade in effect?
 
Sounds like your issue is you're missing the APN settings - its not a fault on the phone.

Get your APN settings, add them, and voila all should be cool once again
 
all the apps i had came up minus the paid ones. a few games, mlb at bat, and 2 live wallpapers. pissed. I hope a new sim card cures the 3 g problems, because i basically have no data now
 
Easy tiger, the answers are all here on the forums to the issues you've got

3g/data access - it is your APN, add them and you'll get data again
Missing apps - this has been covered lots of times, you need to change the build.prop file so the market sees your phone as a 2.1 device - then it'll all be fine

Just tested what you suggested and it worked. So it seems like the firmware update is ok so far.
 
3G def has improved! I was in the theater the other day, had zero bars and still on 3G and it loaded pages fairly fast! Before it would be slooow with zero bars. I haven't seen it go on Edge for a while now!

FRF72 is the newest unoffical 2.2 update

what should i change the apn to? TMO by the way

i found this "internet2.voicestream.com " its a lil better but still slow and gets stuck from time to time. more often than not

EDIT: cancel that. its no better

sorry to hear that, but was a reset necessary? You have to think it's not something one does everyday...and yeah, maybe some paid apps are not in the market cos google needs to add FRF72 on their market whitelist or whatever.
I haven't noticed much difference in 3g reception to be honest, which was already good

yea man im screwed out of the mlb app and the nfl app that i had before.. the nfl app i found on xda but now when i go to download to the phone it says not supported. im so pissed.! i have good voice on 3g, its the data


EDIT: NFL, I got it. had to do it via usb transfer. MLB and others still gone :(
 
hey BigMerf, I remember reading a post that gives you instruction to do a by step for apps not showing in the market...don't remember where I read it in here. But it said the issue is that the Market sees 2.2 and does not recognize the phone's build so that's why you can't see some of the apps on the market so you put a code that 'tricks' the Market into thinking you have 2.1... Did you try that?

That requires root. I believe you're thinking of the build.prop alteration, yes? I don't think Merf is rooted. Rooting would be a lot of hassle just to get protected apps at this point. We can't be that far away from the final rollout.

If there's something else I'm not aware of to accomplish this without rooting, I'd totally like to know about it too.

hmm...doesn't BigMerf have an AT&T N1...I remember he was in the same boat as me (waiting for Froyo OTA) *shrugs*

I might try to find that stupid post...but it didn't seem like you need to root : < well the poster didn't mention anything about rooting...he might have forgotten.

In your same boat here... looked around but it seems that solution works only if you root....no other solution out there besides waiting patiently for the official update I guess.
 
when will be available the Nexus One update to Android 2.2 Froyo? Will be the OTA? Thanks - Android Help

Hey guys,

Just dropping in to let you know that the FRF72 build that is floating around is not the official update. The Android team is feverishly working to get a final version out the door, but like passion-ate has mentioned this will only happen once a release candidate meets our quality criteria.

Since today is the Summer Solstice, we know things will be heating up a bit so hopefully Froyo will be on its way shortly. Thanks for your continued patience!
