So I emailed them and got this back from HTC about the light leakage:

Thank you for taking the time to contact HTC America Technical So I emailed HTC about the light leakage and this is what the wrote back:

Support via E-Mail with your inquiry about your EVO 4G. HTC has received some reports regarding this issue, and are currently analyzing the potential causes. Most customers are not reporting any issue related to this problem. The issue appears to be cosmetic and should not affect the operation of the device. Additional information will be provided after we finish our investigation of the issue.

I guess we all need to take 30 secs and email them about the issue we are having.

No issues here! Good luck to those of you experiencing it, though.

Yeah I hear you, my wifes evo is perfect. So its just me lol. Also I have replaced the original evo i got on launch day with ver 003 and it still has the issue.

I'd wager that, yeah, most are having the issue to some degree. It's a manufacturing and/or design flaw. I'm confident my replacement will not have this defect (crosses fingers).

If HTC won't solve the problem, I'll have some of my techs fix it properly. I like the phone too much to let this annoying issue ruin the experience.

Same here, Im hoping I get one that its just like my wifes evo. I called 4 BB and no one had any evos. So I will be calling sprint tomorrow.

Luckily, my BB rep. is pretty cool. She said a new shipment is (probably) due in this Wed. or Friday and put me down for one. They expect 30-40 units. Worst case, if they don't show up for a few weeks, they will extend my 30 day trail period until I get a phone I'm happy with. I showed her the display and she immediately noticed the LED light bleeding onto the display.

Ah cool, I have to go back the second BB I went and talk to the guy that did my replacement and see if he can put my name in a list.

I feel better now i just wrote them a nasty letter..about this damn phone..it was the least I could do..maybe they will get somthin done quick...really SAD but im almost tempted to go back to my palm pre..ya you heard me correct..Im on my 3 EVO..grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yep hope we can get something moving now that we got some emails going their way. he big thing is calling them or emailing them so they know this is a issue and its not 1 evo out of 50 that has this issue. So email or call...

Stupid question what is light leakage?...LOL I can see light coming from my buttons on the bottom if I look from the top of the phone downward on it but when I am using the phone I cant see it I have to actually try to see it. Is the light leakage???

Thanks
DJ

Email sent.....

They shouldn't even have to wait to get all of these complaints. They just need to use an EVO for a few days to see it for themselves......

Yep thats it, and it will get brighter lol

Email and call if you can. Look at the number on the poll 42 with this issue and this thread is less than a day old. HTC needs to do something now.

I emailed them. My EVO has gotten progressively worse with the light leakage and the screen is noticeably sticking out above the bezel.

My wife's EVO doesn't appear to be having the same problem (knock on wood) and this is the only problem I'm having with my EVO.

I want to wait until they get new phones in using the updated/fixed manufacturing process to get a replacement. I hope Sprint won't give me a hassle replacing it as I really love this phone.

I do think that HTC/Sprint will extend the 30 days if they take long on a resolution.

Can someone take a pic of what this supposed "light leakage" is/looks like?

I can't tell if I have it or not. I maybe see the LEDs under the black border at the bottom, but not really leakage and certainly not when the phone is asleep.
