Accessories Macro & Fish Eye Lens for Evo!

There is no macro option but the camera can take very good close-ups in certain situations. Here is an example: IMAG0024 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Sometimes you can hear the lens (or whatever) making a zooming sound when it's trying and failing to focus in dim light or when the subject doesn't have enough detail. But as you can see in the image, it is possible to take nice macros.

No, that pic is completely unedited, just taken with default EVO cam settings. There are more macro examples in the photostream but here is a good one of tree bark: IMAG0037 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

The camera takes better close-ups than wide-angel pics IMO.

You can also make your own macro lens pretty easily with some cardboard and the laser lens from a DVD player.

I know photobugs are probably laughing at the idea of extra lenses for a cellphone camera, but I'm hoping to use the Evo as an all-purpose blogging/article writing device that I can take anywhere without needing to lug around a point and shoot, a videocamera, laptop, etc.

I can think of many shots where I could use a macro lens on the Evo. The fisheye... well, I'll wait for some reviews, but I'm pretty sure I'll get the macro lens IF:

1. it is easy to attach/detach
2. it can be applied with a body cover/protector already on the phone
3. it actually improves extreme close up shots of things.

EDITED: I didn't receive my macro lens for over three weeks. Trying to get ahold of cellularfactory.com is an exercise in frustration. They don't answer emails and the only way I got them to answer a phonecall was to randomly hit buttons on their voicemail until I connected. All previous voicemails were never returned.

I would NOT buy from cellularfactory.com again.

I did receive the lens eventually though, so I'm leaving the coupon information up.

I bought the fishlens just for fun and tested it out yesterday.

It works well. The only problem was trying to get the sticky adhesive & lens precisly in the center. As you can see on the video, a bit of it is showing on the edge.
