Accessories Macro & Fish Eye Lens for Evo!

I finally got my macro lens/wide angle from cellularfactory.com. My photo stream is in the EVO picture thread in the main EVO forum.

I loved the fisheye video you did! What settings did you use? How much memory did the video use?

Here are some samples with the little macro attachment and the Incredible. First pic is just a standard shot. Second is as close as I could get without losing focus using the regular camera, third is with the macro attachment.

I didn't shoot it too well admittedly and should've focused better, plus there's definite run-off at the edges of the image, but you get the idea.

You can use a sticky washer on the phone's camera lens to ensure it clamps tightly and magnetically, but I found it works on the regular lens just fine, albeit a lot more loosely. But as it's not going to be used permanently, I didn't like the idea of the sticky washer being permanently affixed to the phone lens!

These shots were not post-processed, merely resized to 800x478 from original 8Mb images.

I saw your photos, they look great. I'm thinking of buying the macro lense now.

The settings on the video was VGA 640x480, MPEG4, auto bright and i'm not really sure what the rest were. That few seconds took about 2MB. I'm gonna test it out more this weekend.

I still haven't received mine from cellularfactory.

Edit: WTH
I checked the emails and it seems that DHL gave it to USPS which then delivered it to someone else over in Jamaica, NY. So now someone has this little fish eye thingy and I don't.

They told me my first package was lost in the mail too. They're lying to you. They're probably waiting for delivery of the lens from a different company and are just going to re-packard it and ship it to you.

Actually they didn't tell me anything, I just followed the link from the emails to the tracking site off of DHL/USPS and it does show that it was delivered to that other place. I sent them an email and just waiting for a reply.

Sorry for the double post (I'll merge them together later) but just wanted to say that I received the lens today. It actually would have gotten here yesterday if it wasn't for Fed Ex just leaving the slip instead of knocking on the door. It was nice that the company Fed Ex instead of the usual USPS (which delivered the previous one to the wrong address.)

I tested it and it nice. In fact I like the fact that the lens has the metal ring attached to the EVO with the sticky tape. It actually raises the OEM lens off the surface so it doesn't get scratched. This way I can no go naked with the EVO. (the EVO not me) lol

thank you for this link!

Sorry, I should have edited that post a long time ago (now corrected). I didn't receive my macro lens for over three weeks. Trying to get ahold of cellularfactory.com is an exercise in frustration. They don't answer emails and the only way I got them to answer a phonecall was to randomly hit buttons on their voicemail until I connected. All previous voicemails were never returned.

I would NOT buy from cellularfactory.com again.

I did receive the lens eventually though, so I'm leaving the coupon information up if people prefer to save a few bucks over speed of shipping.

That is ridiculous. The whole point of camera/video function on our smartphones is for its on the go point and shoot capability and portability. Spending $130 plus $220 for an adapter so that you can attach your dslr lens is a ludicrous feat.

For the weight, price and function of those addons, I will gladly just carry around my dslr. I don't understand who they are marketing these to. If you are an amateur photo/videographer, a smartphone should not be a place to start or invest in for its purpose. There are much more practical options out there.
