Accessories SD card?

Ive done a quick search and cant find anyting

What SD card do people recommend? Looking for about 8-16gb.

also what are the classes all about?

The bigger the class number the faster data transfer speeds, look up SDHC Card Specification.
Don't worry too much about branding, but stay away from the really cheap ebay ones from China.

yeah, ebay uk. They have loads ending all the time, some go for more, some less.

For the price its worth a punt, its all backed up.
 
Not filled it up yet, still trying to find a decent way of getting music from itunes (on a mac) onto the droid.

When its mounted it shows 31979 mb, i've only got 4.something gb's on it now.
 
I tried doubletwist, it *did* put the music over (no such luck on photos and gave up on transcoding video) but no cover art came over :(
 
hey slightly OT here but i have an 8gb class 6 card that i had in my previous phone.

i would like to put it in my desire. do i just do a straight swap or do i need need to do something to the new card?

31,979mb is too high for it to be legit (if ever there was any doubt for that price). But if it works fine, bargain :)

thinking about buying one of these chinese cards, whats the verdict are they legit?



try iSyncR for itunes synching, i absolutely love it
 
I thought the general consensus was cheap cards won't work? These 32gig chinese ones sound great! What class are they? What class is the stock 4gig one?
 
OK, dumb newbie-to-desire question... I got the phone with the 4gb card in... if I go and buy a bigger one, can I just copy the stuff from the 4gb to PC, then copy that straight to the newer card and it'll work ok? Or is there other stuff I have to do?
 
I always thoguht anything from china/hong kong was going to be a fake or is this less so for hong kong, I think ill still get 1 from a uk based website eg play, im after 16gb so if anyones seen a 16 at a good price post it here,
 
But the quality of the ones bought directly from the Far East can't be guaranteed, unlike Sandisk ones etc.

There is no way the Far East imports will be speedy, use at your peril and make sure you back up anything important on it, the chips used in them are the cheapest of the cheapest available.

There are at least two sandisk factories in the east one in hong kong and one in shanghai

Definitely. Its FAKE!!!

hardware manufacturers work on the basis that there are 1000MB in a GB. In actuality here are 1024.

A GB to a hardware manufacturer in decimal is:

1,000,000,000 Bytes but in actual (binary) it is 1,073,741,824 Bytes

So lets do some maths,

Decimal 32,000,000,000 Bytes / 1.073.741.824 = 29.80 (approx)

29.80 (approx) x 1024 = 30,517.

The maximum any 32GB hardware will report in windows is 30,517. More than this is not possible.

Now what is possible, is to hard code a fake value to the flash memory of a card so it will show at whatever someone wants it displayed as in windows - A fake capcity.

Infact, there are warnings all over ebay that there are fakle 32GB cards for sale on there and to be weary.

If you look around, a SanDisk 32GB micro SDHC will cost you at least
