Reception Problems

I have the verizon HTC Driod and I have been having reception problems. I have had verizon for 6 years now and I have never had a problem but since I have had this phone I have never seen more then 2 bars. Is anyone else having this problem or is there something that I can do to fix it. Thanks

Are you REALLY having reception problems (the phone doesn't connect) or is the phone just showing fewer bars than you're accustomed to seeing on other phones?
If you phone rings when someone calls, and dials out when you want it to, and doesn't drop calls all the time, then you're not really having reception problems. :)

That very well could be it I'll have to test it out more over the next couple of weeks.

It's fairly well known that the 2.1 firmware tends to have this issue. From what I read, -50 db is a good signal, -100 db is not so good. You may want to check here:

Menu > Settings > About phone > Network and check the signal strength.

Yes, it seems to me to be a false low bar reading issue in the bar display, as the call reliability and quality have been very good on my Eris, despite showing 2 or one or no bars at times.

Wish I had your luck. I have very poor reception:mad:

Yeah, right now I have 1 bar, and sometimes none, and I'm tethering my laptop to its 3G connection. I still am reporting 300-500 kb/s. Those speeds are maxed out for this area in the middle of nowhere. Its more of a cosmetic problem, then a real one.

My theory is, if the 3g icon is on, then your going to get good call reception.

That's mine as well. If your signal is strong enough to be getting a 3G signal, then your voice one should be more than fine. Not necessarily true, since some areas do not have 3G yet with Verizon (believe it or not). But then if its showing 1X, then that is your voice signal.

It drives me crazy that people don't know that it has two different signal strengths.

how do you improve signal strength, i'm ranging from -77 to -84 dBm

so if mine is running between -91 and -95 am I good??
the Meter is showing 1 bar to zero bar's...:)
