Yup same issue.

Edit, tried this with handcent and stock messaging.

I just did a test and it works fine for me with the stock app. I don't have Handcent, so maybe it's an interaction between the two?

Hello, first post.

I recently ordered an Inc. on the 18th. With todays news on the Droidx, I think I have changed my mind. I was wondering if I could cancel the Inc., and pre-order the X. A vzw rep said that I would get charged a restocking fee if I canceled my Inc. And they also said there was not going to be a pre-order for the X. Now, if I actually had the Inc., I wouldn't care to upgrade. Seeings as how the ship date on the INC is after the release of the X, am I really going to have to wait till the INC arrives, then return it and pay a 35 "restocking" fee, then wait to maybe get an X without a month long wait? What would be my best course of action to get an X as soon as possible?

Yes you will have to pay $35 restocking fee. Also you cannot cancel a pending order. You will have to wait for the DInc to ship to you before you can return it and ugprade again. Do you even know why you want the X? Why do you even want the DInc? Why do you even want a smart phone? These are all qualifiying questions =)

It sucks I have to pay the 35 bucks. I want the X for the superior specs, just like I wanted the INC over my STORM. I want the HDMI out, I want the added memory. I want the bigger screen. I want the 720p video.

Another question is, can I use an upgrade on my account for the X, switch it to my number that has the data, without her getting the data. If so, I can keep the INC until my wifes upgrade is due, and use it up. Then I will have an INC, of wich I have no use for, and sell it for the cost of the X.

I'm a new customer that ordered an Inc on 6/14 and want to change to the DroidX now because it's superior phone and because I want the bigger screen. Do I have to wait for it to ship or can they cancel the entire account?

tbh i wouldn't say the X is a superior phone, specs on our Inc is better, Do people really care that much over a 4.3 inch screen?

Way to big for a phone IMO

Too big IMO too. That thing would be a beast in your pocket.

Clothing manufacturers need to start making cell phone pockets big enough to carry these phones that are coming out.

Really, what spec on the INC. is better? Name ONE. As far as I can tell, they both have a comparable chip, the X has a larger screen, takes 720p video with directional mics, has hdmi, ships with 50% more memory, and I might actually be able to pull of getting an X BEFORE my INC.. Convince me not to change my mind, and stay with the INC..

Way to big for YOU, but not for ME. There lies the difference. To each their own, imho.

Sounds to me like you've already made your mind up

Only thing I don't like about it is the screen tbh...

OLED (Full-Color)
480 x 800 pixels
3.7"
Colors: 65,536 (16-bit)

vs

LCD (Color TFT/TFD)
480 x 854 pixels
4.3" (basically exact same res stretched on larger worse quality screen)

Really the only major difference tbh, but IMO HTC > Motorola.

I'm not telling you not to get it, you do as you feel bets, just personally I prefer the Dinc.

Plus its FUGLY as hell lol...

Droid X has 720P video recording, HDMI out, CPU and GPU are about twice as good as the ones in the Incredible, it can be used outdoors in sunlight better.

I really am torn, and it comes down to wich I can get first. My ship date was just moved back till the 16th. I could possibly get an X on the 15. If I can use an upgrade from a non-data line for the X I will be able to play with both and see wich one I like. Then sell the one I don't.

Sounds like ya best idea :) Only you will know which you like best

Here's a question for ya Berry(long winded too)...Certain HTC/Droid phones (Inc included) have location issues...i.e. location is dozens to hundreds to thousands of miles away. Use of GPS works for Maps and Navigation, but location apps do not work with either GPS or cell network. It does not occur in all phones and extensive troubleshooting and follow-up (VZW community support forums) points to the issue being where one lives because the cell ID data base is not accurate for triangulation (this is largely the case...there are anomolies people have based on being in a certain area where cell signal is obstructed/degraded, but these don't count). The only problem is that VZW/HTC/Google are playing 3 Stooges and pointing their collective fingers at the other guys, saying it's "their" software that is the issue.

I can personally verify this is the case as I just traveled from Panama City (where I live and the problem exists) to Virginia Beach by car, and flew back through Atlanta back to PC. The problem went away once I got East of Tallahasse going, and didn't occur again until I landed in PC on the return trip.

My point to all of this is we started wondering if the location would work to find a person if they managed to dial 911, but were incapacitated and couldn't relay there location. FCC rules state that phones dispatch centers are supposed to be provided this info from a service (can't remember the name) within 30 minutes. I can't verify this, but one of the guys on the forum says he had his wife (911 dispatcher) try to trace his phone, and the system showed that he was exactly where his phone said he was...370 miles away.

To me, this seems like a a gross safety issue from a feature that I have come to expect in my phones. It's not like poor call quality or screen calibration issues (no offense to those having those issues) that VZW can say a patch is on the way to fix. I like my Inc a lot, but I'm not sure I want to keep it under those circumstances (my wife's Eris is the same way, but shows an even different location, go figure).

If I came into your store, what would you tell me, and if I went higher, to corporate, if I wanted to exchange for a different phone, or simply return it and go back to my Storm, due to this issue? Thanks for the patience.

And please guys, I've tried all the different "fixes and solutions". Have been trying to track this issue down hard for 3 weeks. My next step WAS going to the store or contacting corporate about returning the phone for this issue. Don't need any remedy suggestions unless you have the exact fix.

Is that 35 restocking fee absolutely set in stone? I find it outrageous. I ordered the phone June 9th but found BB had it 2 days later and bought it there. I have tried cancelling the order through verizon, starting with calling the sales associated who helped me out. He did not answer. I tried next day, no answer. Then I called the general sales department and they told me the order was closed and couldn't be changed, which I find to be absolutely ridiculous if my phone is going to be on BACKORDER FOR 3 WEEKS. I tried contacting the person who sold me the phone and left him a voicemail. I DID NOT GET A CALL BACK. HE NEVER PICKS UP.

I decided to try again to check what the status was, so I called again today. I left my original salesperson ANOTHER VOICEMAIL BECAUSE HE DOESN'T PICK UP. Then called the general sales department. I was told to just deny the shipment and that I would get charged 35$ restocking fee on my bill. I WILL NOT accept that and after being tossed around, put on hold for nearly 20 minute intervals, I was told that the person asked the supervisor and all they would do is split the difference, which is still absolutely bullshit. I am going to get all my money back or they are losing a customer. I'll just stick with ATT and use a dumbphone and save myself the trouble.

I left the supervisor a voicemail, I'll see what's up tomorrow.

And yes, I'm obviously frustrated and angry at this bullshit.

Holy moly!

I'm sure if you call up Verizon and ask nicely, they'll make everything better. If not, ask to cancel your account -- then they'll do whatever you want. But make sure you're a little but more calm before you call :).
