Help Bad overall sound from headphone jack. Maybe a bad phone?

Lurker
I have noticed in all music apps (pandora, slacker, last.fm, mp3's) the sound on the low end is very overmodulated. It is to the point that if I am wearing headphones or using the Moment to play music in the car that the speakers are being pushed extremely hard. The low end is so cranked that no level of EQ on my sound system can get rid of the muffled sound on the low end.

It also almost sounds like my earbuds are going to blow even on low volume.

All other devices (IPod Touch, Touch Pro, Slacker portable, Hero) do not have this problem.

Is this normal for this phone and if so do you know of any apps where you can tweak the EQ of the media volume output?

I don't know about any eq apps but this is not normal, at least not with my Moment. I think if this were an issue with the Moment in general we would already have seen more posts like this. Did you try powering off (soft reset)? Pulling the battery? A complete reset to factory defaults?

For the first time today, I used my Moment to play music in my car. I don't have the greatest system, but it's pretty capable for a standard speaker setup. I thought my music sounded pretty good. I didn't hear anything that made me thing my speakers were trying to commit suicide, and I had it cranked up pretty loud. I haven't tried over headphones yet, I'll see if I can remember to do that tomorrow at work.

Yep definately tried both of those. Sounds like I need to examine a Sprint store today and test their demo unit. I'll report back.

I don't think the problem is with the phone rather the app. Have you tried puti
ng a reg mp3 str8 to your phone from the pc?

I'm coming from a Hero and theres a remarkable increase in audio quality - once again a little happier I switched

I too am having this problem. For me, the sound quality is great until a song with heavy bass content is played, then the bass is very garbled/distorted. I've had this problem with Slacker and Pandora, but my mp3s on the SD card seem to play fine.

Bass gets slaughtered as quality falls below a certain point. I play mostly music videos on my phone and I think the quality is superb. Bass has a lot of slam and the highs aren't exaggerated.

I also use the headphone jack for the car and it sounds very crisp and clean. For anyone who had the instinct they know how bad pandora was with a volume issue. this one is nothing like it. I believe either you have a short in the headphones or the headphone jack of the phone.
