is there a way to have the puzzle piece still come up whenever you have a text/missed call while using the pattern unlock screen? the only way i can get the puzzle piece to show up is when i am using none as the lock screen

when i am typing a message on my vibrant the keyboard sometimes shuts mid message and then proceeds to keep hitting the spacebar until i hit the return key. any one else have this issue or know how to fix it its very annoying
