Help on-screen keyboard issues

When I go to type a text message the keyboard will randomly shut when I press the space bar at times. This is getting very annoying and I am wondering if there is a fix to this.

-phone i am using is the Samsung vibrant running 2.2
-yes i have tried other keyboards on the market and have had the same problem
