Flip case ...should you use one. .

I find using the flip case annoying... one is extra baggage... and 2 to attend calls and playing games is uncomfortable to hold. .. so just a simple back cover for me.....

I love my flip cover. Keeps my face from hitting buttons when I'm on a call, protects my screen and if the back gets scratched I just replace the cover. I don't find it uncomfortable at all.

This is my first phone with any type of flip cover at all. I previously had the Note 1 LTE and did not have a flip cover for that one.

It can get in the way sometimes, but that's pretty rare and you eventually adapt. In the end, I like the "insurance" of having a flip cover to protect the screen. I've never had a scratched screen before in my life of smartphones but there is always a first time and I love my Note 2 way too much to risk that LOL.

Personal preference I guess.

I had a samsung flip cover on my original NOTE, and yes it looked nice, but I find it's uncomfortable to hold the phone with it on whilst playing games, and it's very annoying when trying to take a picture with the case on too, so for me I now use a screen sticker and a thin tpu back cover, or sometimes a silicon/gel rear cover

Not a fan of flip covers here. I had mine on for ~2 days before putting on an OtterBox Commuter.

I didn't like that it offered minimal impact protection, didn't instill any more feelings of security when holding the phone and the fact that every time I wanted to do something on my device I had to fold the cover all the way to the back. That last action became a serious nuisance in short order. I'm always using my phone for something, the Note 2 has become the closest device I've had to a laptop replacement.

I did appreciate the overall slimness of the flip case and the screen protection it offered but I'm fairly confident in my OB case and clear screen protector. The OB feels worlds better in my hand, I no longer feel like I'm carrying an expensive egg.

All comes down to personal choice.
However, I have heard the red flip cover will make your GN2 much faster and smoother. Screen transitions are like lightnin with the red flip cover! :p :D

Funny, I heard a similar story if you paint the VW Bug in your avatar red - it will drive like turbo :p

I can speak from a personal experience of receiving a freebie flip cover from Samsung - I had it on for less than a minute and I had to take it off. I use my phone a lot, constantly flipping it open/close would drive me crazy, among other things already mentioned above. Yes, its a personal preference, but IMHO its just a stylish slim cover, nothing more or less. The only thing it offers is a screen scratch protection while in a pocket or a bag/purse. For same reason you can just get a good screen protector.

I don't care for them. Ordered an otter.

Love the flip cover. A little awkward taking pictures but it looks classy and easy to use once you get used to it.

I go back and forth.

As a whole, I really like it and like others said before me, it does a good job at protecting the phone against scratches.

Like others said before me, it sucks when you want to take a picture and you only have one hand and it makes the phone quite a bit thicker.

There are pros and cons to it.

I tend to use mine most of the time but if I need to carry the phone in my front pants pocket I usually change to the standard back / no case to get the slimmer profile.

I have been really thinking about getting a flip case lately. My Screen protector has been getting really scratched up and it bothers me. Its not noticeable when the screen is on but when its off it just looks bad.

I like that! I'm a mechanic and need something that I can pocket and not fumble with when I need to use it.
Thanks for posting that.

Didn't look to bad for 7 bucks will see..lol

I have a brand new pink one that Samsung will not trade out as it was a freebie. If you would like it, PM me your home address and I will gladly send it to you for free. I would rather someone use it than not be used at all. First come, first served.

If your face was hitting buttons while you were on a call before you had the cover, then you had a malfunctioning proximity sensor. The screen should not be active while the phone is against your face.

For Samsung Galaxy Note II 2 N7100 Hybrid Hard TPU Case Cover Kickstand Film | eBay

Got it in 3 days fits nice and snug..feels pretty good in my hand and love the kickstand...

How does power/volume buttons? Someone in our main "best case" thread posted about exactly same one with a number of problems: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-note-2/639726-best-case-note-2-a-5.html#post5337941

Also, when you put it down on the back, does it grips the surface keeping it from sliding? I keep looking at the picture, and trying to figure out if that kickstand is sticking out a little too much to be flush with the back?

The kickstand is flush no hump at all.. And the volume and power buttons work great.. No finger nail needed to push Em in like some cases I have had... It's not real rubbery so it don't grip great facedown, but pretty good.
