Note 10 s pen

Hello everyone,

I'm wanting to get a note 10 plus for my business phone, I haven't used a note phone before.

When I'm making booking in the calendar I know with most phones you scroll through the days, months & time..
What I'm wondering with the note & in particular the plus model can you use the S pen to write notes next to each entry/booking for the day?

I found it annoying when using the calendar in my tablet, the time and date was fine, but the notes I like to add to some bookings was annoying.

I figure with the S pen it would be much easier, if the software allows it.

If the standard Samsung calendar doesn't allow it, does anyone know of another calendar app that does?

Or perhaps it will be added later with updates to either the pen or apps?

Thanks for your help!

Oh btw, id be making the big move from iOS

If you use Samsung's own keyboard, or Gboard, ANYWHERE you have the option to enter text, you can use handwriting instead.

I've yet to find any other keyboards that support handwriting input.

However, if no pop up keyboard is displayed, I don't think you can.

As for the calendar, I am use Business Calendar to enter all my shifts, but things like the time are from drop down boxes, not free form to write in.

can you define annoying? on my note 10+ with my s pen i can add notes and hand write something in. not sure what you are asking.

First, congrats on your new phone, and special congrats on your move to Android. That is a big step and I hope you give yourself some time to get used to it and end up appreciating it.

Now, on to your question. I was curious and found that you can indeed use the s-pen to make handwritten drawings and/or notes on the monthly display page of the built-in calendar app. I could do a bunch of screen shots but I'm not very good at it.

I had remembered seeing this very feature demo'ed in a YouTube video I saw and I went back and found it. The video is located here:
and what you're looking for occurs at about 7:16 in. Basically, you go in to the native calendar app and select the monthly display view. Then, on the top write of the screen, you will see, second from the far right/top something that looks like a pen. When you tap on this, you can pull out your s-pen. On the bottom of the screen you will see an oval with four items. The far left one lets you draw/write and if you tap it,, you can set different writing colors and point styles/sizes. The second item from the left turns the pen in to an eraser. I'm not sure what the other two items in the oval do. After you're done noting what you want, tap "Save" in the upper right and you are all set. What you drew will stay whenever you display that particular month.

I never knew the Note/calendar app could do that so I'm very glad you asked about it. I looked at one different calendar app that I like and did not see where you could do this so I only verified with the native Calendar app.

I've got 2 "I'm sorry's here..." The first is to apologize profusely if this post had nothing to do with your question! The second is that the length of my post was very long and I'm sorry about that too. I just wanted to make sure it was understandable without using a bunch of screen shots. If someone else wants to add some screen shots of this, it might help. Good luck!!

Ok, what I'm wanting to do.. say if you have 5 bookings in your calendar for today 8/9/19, one every 2 hours. lets say the booking at 8am I have their name and where it is in there like normal, can I write a note say they owe money or I need to bring something in particular.

Then another booking at 10am, name, time location.. can I also write a separate note of some I might need particular to that certain job?

Im hoping to do this with the s pen itself, and have them all on a separate time slot for each day.

So there might be how ever many different entries per day & all have separate notes attached to them for that particular person & their time slot.

I hope this makes some sort of sense & thanks for your help.

Thanks for your reply, that's very helpful to know.

Interesting to see how the DEX cooperates with Mac computers

I understand what you're saying with marking the calendar and that would be helpful, its not exactly what I'm wanting to do, I think if you had a lot of things written on the calendar on multiple days it would get quite messy!

That youtube video gave great insight, thanks for adding it to the thread!

so there are a couple ways of doing this. you can take a screenshot of your appointments for the day and then use your s pen to writer over the screenshot whatever action is needed for each appointment.

in the calendar that comes with the phone, you can add notes, but it does not show on the calendar. you have to select each appointment to see the notes.....which you can handwrite in with your s-pen.

there might be other calendar apps out there where you can your notes for each appointment easier.......but i pretty much have used samsung's or google and they are both the same as far as how notes are taken and displayed.

Ok, great.

That makes more sense, & should be fine for what I'm wanting to do!

Thanks for your help.

As I said before, I use Business Calendar.

There is a description field which uses the pop up keyboard, so can take handwriting and convert to text (of using Samsung keyboard or Google Gboard).

That looks quite good, ill have to look it up.
I like the right hand side how your whole day is setup down the page.

Thanks for your help.

I think that's the same feature as redeye was talking about above?

I just found this youtube video that was quite helpful, it shows how to turn on the settings so you have the area to write in with the pencil.

Theres also some other hand tips, ill add the link.
