Why not?
Linux proper [some distros] had games you could play during installation--decades ago!
Of course, installing Linux takes less time now than then.But Android...Linux...anything's possible...yeah, it could happen...
Personally, though, I don't find Android update times to be a big deal. *shrug*

Agree with Moody in her comment, you just go and play with the game, as soon as it updates, you can possibly talk with one another. OR just chill out completely without a phone.
not sure i understand. what is wrong with the word "bye"???????? i say bye all the time. not sure i have done it on a forum before, now that i think of it. but i do use it in everyday situaitions.

Care to expand on that a little? As noted, Linux was doing this decades ago. Why shouldn't its Android variant be able to follow suit?
If you have a phone with the A/B partition scheme you can play a game during the update if you want. It installs in the background, including the endless app optimisation step, and you only need to restart when it's done in order to swap to the updated partition.
Update times are no issue with this system (which has been available for a few years). But of course many manufacturers still don't use it.

You build the game into the installer, rather than the code that's being installed.

Old versions of [some] Linux distros wrote into the installation process games you could play while the install cranked away. So if Kubuntu, for example, could do it 15 years ago, so too should Android have that ability.
Well, that was the OP's point.
Thing with Android updates, they're usually flashed via the device's Recovery firmware and NOT the actual running OS itself, unlike desktop computer OSs. So any games would need to be baked into the Recovery. And the Recovery usually only takes a few minutes to complete before the device reboots back into the updated Android OS. Maybe a quick game of Minesweeper or Tetris?
