What genius thought it was a fun idea to take a toy grenade to high school???

That has to be fake stone or the deck would have already given up. The fake stuff still weighs far too much to be sitting on that deck structure. Fail!!
My son attended a party while in his teens. They were all on the deck and it gave it up. At least there were just people falling down and not a fireplace.

No, the pavement was built out into the road as a convenience to those who are altitudinally-privileged. Small people should still be able to use the sidewalk beneath the balcony: except that the greedy, wealthy lady who owns the balcony doesn't want to risk them taking a peek up her designer skirt and enjoying the view while she enjoys HER view out the window.

It's true, they have widened the sidewalk. I was going to ask why put warning poles after the fact. Was it designed like that? Does the whole thing lower on to the pavement, or elsewise access to the building via that extrusion was intended? Is that a white ramp on the wall?
More than meets the eye, very possibly.
Could be deemed normal in Ireland, my home country.

That looks like a door for the wee folk. Could be the rich idjit that had the balcony installed is vertically challenged.

'At thar would be a "Corvuck" (redneck) ..... it's for the roofer that won't buy a truck and insists on keeping his "Vette".

That's not asking but begging for an accident. Laying the refrigerator / freezer horizontal and letting it rest 24 hours vertical before restoring power seems a better scenario than risking loss of appliance and or friends.

I'll agree with your thought on that. I've always recommended leaving it upright at least 48 hours.
