NCAA Men's Basketball 2024

College basketball is upon us. I'll be rooting for my local U Wichita State University that competes in the American Atlantic Conference and Kansas University that plays in the Big 12. Both conferences have added and lost teams with the now popular conference hopping that's prevalent. New blood and lost rivals makes it difficult to guess how teams will do. Not that I was every any good at predicting the sport. :)
Do you have a favorite team that you root for?

My local U won their first conference game tonight. They are really struggling to play watchable basketball and have been falling short. I don't go out of my way to watch their games but if there isn't a conflict, I'll watch. Wichita St. defeated Charlotte 68-59. I only post this because it might be their only conference win. :)

I will admit that I'm not as entertained as I once was watching bball. It is mostly due to the lack luster teams that I have followed for years playing poorly. I hadn't considered the changes of the game being a factor. I am no fan of the 3 point rule. I enjoy the offense and defense that happens inside the arc. The ability to drive the paint and the fast break offense are almost a thing of the past.

At least the SEC tourney is on a genuine hardwood floor. The Big 12 tournament is on the ugliest basketball court I've ever seen. The games give me a headache. I don't know what the hell they were thinking.

The bracket "experts" have 14 of the 16 SEC teams in the NCAA tournament. That's crazy. How times have changed. The SEC Tournament was pretty much the Kentucky Invitational Tournament for years.

I filled out my bracket on Yahoo and ESPN. I'm ready to show the world just how clueless I am. :) It's fun... it's free... and there is always the chance you could win some jack. My sister fills out a bracket every year but on paper.... what's the fun of that? My father loved college basketball and his two kids do as well. However, my sister watches every game she can, and reads up on the teams and players the entire season. Her brackets suck just like mine. :)

Let the madness begin. I was watching some of the first round of the NIT. MY local U, Wichita State lost to Oklahoma State University. They weren't expecting a NIT invitation and had all but headed out for spring break. Another game and close to home was all good for the team. Even though we played OSU tough, they were definitely the better team.... especially down the stretch.

And we are off and running. DirecTV has a madness channel this year. They have had a sports plex for a while but the madness plex is new. It should save my poor remote a lot of wear and tear. :)
Good luck with your brackets and your favorite NCAA teams.

Thought Louisville would be playing better given they are basically playing a home game ( Lexington, KY is the game site ). Toughest games to pick are these 8 & 9 matchups and the 5 & 12's. Of course my Memphis Tigers are a 5 seed.

It didn't take long before reality slapped my bracket into the dirt. :) I managed to squeak 12 of the first 16 into the next round. My son and I are tied but my daughter only had one wrong pick yesterday. It's just a wee bit embarrassing. :)
