are you sure that your notifications are not full? now the response does say that 4 or more "types" of notifications will require the dot. by types i am guessing at things like emails, texts, and phone calls...etc
looking at that link I don't understand it because the dot is present on the screen when there's plenty of space for more icons And I'm pretty sure mine looked similar. So what's this proximity sensor about? The AI tells me "Typically, the proximity sensor does not put a small dot or indicator in the notification area at the top of the screen. Its operation is usually silent and does not require user interaction or notification." - and I don't have face proximity stuff turned on.
