Tattoos anybody have one?

You have to pay for either one. I think scars count. My tats are not going away but I have outlived many of my scars. I had a trophy sized scar from a 4" riggers axe from my youth that got out of Dodge. I guess it had all of me it could handle. :)

so i just talked to my tattoo artist that did my dog tattoo. i am scheduled on Sept 6th to get a sleave tattoo on my left arm. the idea is that the entire sleave will be an oceanic scene.....where the top part on my biceps will be a pod of killer whales at the surface. then on my forearm i am going to have a red octopus where the tentacles wraps around the arm and ends on the back of my hand.

i was thinking about taking my Quest 3 vr headset and watch some movies while i get my tattoo done. i just saw this idea and i have emailed my tattoo artist to see if that is ok or not. has anybody tried that?
 
I like your aquatic theme idea. It will be cool! My large dragon.. shoulder to elbow was done in two sittings. All the outline in one and color a week later. It wasn't my idea but what the artist wanted to do. He did the work after hours so it was just he and I and one of his buddies in the shop. We had tunes going and some lively conversation but no movies. We took a smoke break both nights and we had a few beers at the end of each session. That was a long time ago in a different world. :)

yeah i think we are starting with the forearm and then go up from there.....at least that is what was discussed initially. it might change though. i know it will be at least 2 sittings of about 4 hours or so.
 
so on sept 6th i will get my first session for my sleeve. i am not sure exactly which direction my artist will take. she said she will either do an outline first of the entire sleeve or maybe start with the octopus that will go on my forearm. i told her i will leave that decision up to her...though i am leaning towards getting the octopus done first. i am super excited and anxious to get this started.
 
One thing I really appreciate about this forum is that even if there's a thread topic that really doesn't interest you, there's a good chance you'll find comments or a discussion that does. (Side note: more often than not, @olbriar is usually part of that...kudos.)

I don't have any "traditional" tats, but I think this meets the definition of a tattoo. About thirty years ago I was washing my Grand Am, and as I was washing the lower rear bumper cover, the outside of the ring finger on my right hand swept the edge of the exhaust tip. It bled (and stung, probably mostly from the soap) quite a bit, and the carbon/etc. that lined the pipe "inked" the wound.

Your kind words have been acknowledged and you have earned another free year's access to the forums. :) I can't claim any accidental tats. I'm so injury-prone it's a shame I don't have a trophy to share. I paid for my tats and anyone could have done the same.
 
ok so an update.....
i was supposed to start my sleeve this past saturday, but my tattoo artist was sick.....so i had to reschedule it. the thing that sucks is that she is moving to a different location so now i have to wait until sept 27th to get my tattoo started. UGGGG!!!!!! i am so anxious to get it done. but she is a fantastic artist so i know the wait will be worth it.

I well remember all but begging my guy to put the color in my dragon sleeve while we were at it instead of waiting a week. I was anxious as well. Hang in there... it will happen. :)
 
Yup, bet this one will regret this in their older years of life ... that is after not being able to get a REAL job ... course Mikey D's does not care how you look as long as you can cook fries and flip hamburgers ...
