can you be more detailed? what phone do you have? and are you connected to your computer via a usb cable? are you accessing the phones memory storage? or the phone's sd card? have you checked the dcim folder?

Thanks for your reply...out of the blue I resolved it yesterday evening.
When connecting with a USB cable...Samsung Galaxy A33....it displayed 'charging only' but managed to allow data exchange as well in settings.
