Does the HTC Desire 601 have a gyroscope? Different sites say different things?

Is there an option to make the screen wake-up when I receive a text message? Right now it just plays a sound and the screen stays off?

Hello. Just received my phone in the mail brand new. I'm extremely picky about LCDs and I'm noticing a few streaks of darkening at the very bottom of the screen when viewing a light colored or white background. Does anyone else have the issue or should I exchange it through virgin mobile?
