how do i know which update was the most recent i hear these updates with different names but how do you tell which one you installed (verizon)

I bought a used Mini that turned out to have a bad some card reader. I know they can be replaced on other Motorola phones but can't find a replacement for the Mini. Anybody had to do this and have good tips on procedure and know which tray may be universal?
