samsung galaxy note 10.1

I use Hotmail and Windows Live Mail on my Samsung 10.1" Tablet and until now with success but all of a sudden I cannot send mail from either (I can receive mail). A message 'server does not support authentication' appears and prevents mail being sent. How can I overcome this problem?

I want to root my Note 10.1 2014 WiFi tablet. I have found plenty of guides but none of them reference the bootloader. I have rooted phones but always had to unlock the bootloader first. Is this not the case with WiFi only tablets? Thanks in advance for any reponses.
