Did the recalled Note 7 explode while charging and / or just sitting uncharging ?

I have olde iPhone 4s and was looking forward to upgrade to the N7 but then the issues, so annoyed. Should my strategy be: 1) upgrade to N7 now with back up to the S7edge or back up to olde iP4s, if problems (verizon 14 days) ? 2) wait until November to let the dust settle on the replacement N7...

Consensus ? Battery good & last until end of the day, Or drains too fast ? Cool as cucumber, Or abnormally overheats ? Smooth fast-enough operation, Or stuttery & lagging ?

Just an FYI, please see link below as this has happened to me in the past 24 hours and might be an issue with other user battery drains. It is Brutal! My battery drained from 100% to 16% in in medium power save mode while sleeping. I am looking into solutions so please post if any are found...
