How to remove the triangle in the status bar

I just got a text message and the notification shows a redish/orange text symbol at the top....when I tap to see new messages it pulls up the text with the contact listed at top then right under that it has where you can choose All, Texts, Voicemail, Calls, Favorites. I don't like this feature...
