Root 004 new evo?

i've been reading about a "new evo 004" what's that mean and how do you tell what evo you have? i want to try the wimax cm7 but need my camera.

under settings -> about phone -> Hardware Information

Should be the first detail labeled hardware version "0004"

I got my EVO on Feb 2. It said ver 0004. I wrote this down because I'm a newbie. I tried a few ROM's and ended up with Koni's ELITE.
Now the version says 0003. I don't know how it changed, maybe the "all in one update I did? I would also like to know if there is a physical way to tell version.

is this a sense thing? i'm on cm7 and didn't even see a hardware info listed.
