1.6 ota update........

yes, go to your setting, gosh its been a while let me think

there should be some kind of android development option in settings

and then there should be an option that say "debugging mode"

ya, whatever behold_this guy said

but wait

before you update, wait!!!

because i know there is an over the air update that NU11u5 has extracted and he is testing it out.

I dont know if he has posted it, or if its any good.

well i checked USB debugging, shut the phone off and tried to do the odin, still reading ''PLEASE CONNECT PHONES''

my computer isnt installing the usb drivers im guessing. and i've tried to download the drivers.

come on i cant be the only person on this planet with this problem.

btw thx for the help thus far

Did you install the Samsung ADB drivers first like the instructions said. I had to delete my previous driver before i could install them.

Huh very strange....haven't heard anyone with problem....so I'm no help. You aren't on windows 7 are you? It can be hard to find and install the correct drivers. Other than that I don't know.

how exactly do i install the adb? maybe im doing it wrong. i just open the folder and double click on "set up" inside the ''samsung adb driver''

it seems as if the AMD64 isntalls fine but when it comes to I386 it doesnt install the usbsamsungmodem AT ALL.

when i uninstall the amd64 it uninstalls. but i386 says NO UPDATE INSALLED. CANNOT UNINSTALL.

well i got it all to finally work... odin to 1.6 but now the touch screen is unresponsive and i see a white square with a red ! in it on my notifications..... O.o

edit:

a restart proved to yield successful results! 1.6! seemes a bit snappier than 1.5 though i only had 72mb of memory so i factory reset the phone...i do hope that this was not a bad idea.

though now that i finally popped my odin cherry, i think if/when a root for 1.6 behold 2 is good to go ill try that. i like app space after using an iphone for 3 months.

edit #2: the factory reset took forever. just as i was about to pop the bettery it came to the home screen..but it also said twiz failed to..blah blah force close..i had to click force close with the dpad because the touch screen went unresponsive again. i hope an unresponsive screen will not become commonplace.

You just run setup. Next time I guess I'll wrap up the other files as to not be confusing.

FYI - i368 contains files for 32bit OS installs, amd64 is for 64bit installs. You only get one.

The touch screen issue should only happen the first time and possibly after a factory reset. It's just missing and rebuilding the touch screen settings.

yeah it seems that way. but the amd64 wasnt actually updating the driver properly. even after i uninstalled the driver, restared my cmop and tried to install adb again. i dont remember the site i directly downloaded the samsung USB drivers from but it was for the behold and specifically for win764 / x86. should you want the drivers (i still have the zip) ill send them to you. once i updated the drivers via the 64bit drivers i downloaded, a different part of the usb wasnt working, which was when i made it use the drivers you provided. it was a bit of frakensteining but it worked. haha

im not stupid btw. lol i work on computer networks and i build/fix/overclock my own computers and gaming rigs. when it comes to phones and anything linux/apple thats when im in the dark.

thanks to EVERYONE for the help.

hey ghost, so did you ever fix your phone after all? you said that it was unresponsive???

i hope you didnt brick your phone

no no i restarted the phone and all is well. someone even said that it happens from time to time when odin / factory resetting due to it probably reinstalling the screen controls.

and whats even better is i looked around and got myself on the $10 a month data plan XD score!

i dont know if this is your style, but if you click on the "quote" button,

it will make your responses look like this, which makes it alot easier tell who you are trying to reply to. lol

glad to hear about your phone

btw, bh_man created alot of roms before they released 1.6.

he actually made a 1.6 galaxy rom for the behold II which was incredible,

the only problem was that it had no vibrate.

if he comes back and works on the ota update, we will have on hell of a rom for us to flash!!!

that is what I have on my behold2 which is now my back up phone do to I got the mytouch slide. I think Bh_MAN sold his phones and is just trying to tweek this rom. Not sure what added benifit this rom has over the Galaxy 12 rom.

having no viabrate isnt really a deal breaker for me.

Does it have the stock twiz camera? because it rocks face.

I am SO lost on this whole update thing right now its horrible lol

First, how do you change the APN? I can't can't even find it...

just wondering what the build is of the new ota?

after searching, some have said the one that begins with "76xx.." and some have stated "donut".

i received a replacement from tmo a few days ago and it says "donut".. does it matter?

all the other info is the same as people have stated.

Donut == 1.6

Android always names their OS releases after food. (Cupcake, Froyo, Gingerbread, etc etc etc)
