Help +1 On Phone Numbers?

MikeMBau

Newbie
Hey guys. So this is my first Android phone, and I love it so far after switching from Blackberry. I got the ThunderBolt on Thursday, the day it came out.

It's been great so far, minus the well documented short battery life. The only problem problem have encountered is that for some reason, some of my contacts have numbers saved as +1 followed by the area code and the number. When I try to call these people, I get the Verizon "Your call cannot be completed as dialed." When i. Go to the People app, an increase try to edit the number, the +1 isn't there. It just shows the area code and number. I even went into Google contacts on my desktop to try to edit it from there, but again it wasn't there!

I am pretty sure what is causing the error messages is the +1.

It looks like this on the Phone and recent calls list: (this is a random number that I pressed on my keyboard. Don't call it)
+12486259537

If it helps to know, I do have almost all of my contacts linked to both Android Facebook and the HTC Sense Facebook, and some to Twitter and Skype. I am unrooted.

Sorry for the grammar errors, I was on my phone and I recently downloaded SwiftKey, and I am not used to it. So ignore the part about "increase."

Ha! I just discovered this issue tonight! Facebook was putting the. +1 on. I too cannotfigure out how to get rid of it.

If you think facebook is causing this issue then you need to go to the facebook app and click menu and dont sync contacts. Also go into the settings of the TB and click accounts and sync and disable from there

I am not on any sort of drug, I promise. But I just tried it again, out of pure curiosity, and it worked fine. The call went through, +1's and all. Even with people that I tried to call a few hours ago, using the same method to get to their numbers, and previously I got the VZW "call cannot be completed as dialed." What is going on?!

Maybe that's why you just noticed it, as did I.

Just curious, is there any way for the numbers I have stored in my contacts to trump the numbers the phone gets from linked Facebook profiles? It seems as if it is the other way around, as the Facebook numbers with the +1's are listed as primary, not the very same numbers that I have, just without the +1.

It seems that would solve the problem, and I would prefer not to turn off the linkage.

The only other solution I could think of, if this is indeed caused by Facebook, would be to ask my Facebook friends to edit their phone numbers to not include the 1

Knowing my luck, I'll probably have this problem so I better bookmark this since I am a noobe to the Android and my phone comes tomorrow...
