1. Quick camera access:
How many times you want to capture some scene, but the time you are able to open the camera, scene is already gone. Normally you have swipe away the welcome screen, go to applications, search and then click on camera icon among bundle of other applications and after some lag, you will be able to open camera. Now in S3 camera icon is available at welcome screen and all you have to do is just swipe the icon and that’s it.
2. Opening through voice:
You an open camera by voice command by saying open camera or I want to take photo. For voice order you need to open S voice either by clicking home button twice or saying hi galaxy
3. Opening camera through motion:
Hold the lock screen with finger and then rotate it to landscape mode. Here to activate this feature, settings

A little trick was uncovered that allows you to boot the camera even more quickly: hold the screen and turn the S3 into landscape mode (when on the lock screen) and the camera opens up instantly.

Or you could simply add a camera icon on to the lock screen with widgetlocker.

Has anyone noticed the lag when taking a photo in video mode? I was taking a video the other evening of my friends singing karaoke and only managed to get the photo button to work a handful of times - missed out on some incredible shots!

Another feature in camera is beautify, If you are taking portrait and want to hide facial imperfection, then in camera settings, go to mode and beautify

Question about the focus, if I hold something really close, it focuses on the object and makes it look crystal clear, but then it will immediately un-focus and make it look like a blurred mess. Anyone else having this issue?

ah there are more settings if you scroll down and I didn't realise this. doh! have now set all photos to store on external storage.

what mode are you using?

could it be the shake function? have you tried turning that on in camera settings and seeing if that sorts things for you. I haven't had a problem with mine on close up work tbh.

That is why I don't put a passcode. I download applocker, whcih allows you to put a passcode to access certain apps.

And as long as I can put that on my SMS, Gallery, E-mail, and a few others. I am fine. No one can really do anything even if I let them borrow my phone to check it out. Which I doubt I will do when I get the GS3

One has to select between security vs convenience.Yes what you are doing is some compromise between two. Same function can be done with Zbox along with bunch of other functions too

Have you used the "share" function much to email photos? My wife would typically use the Yahoo Mail app on her current phone and just send the photos one at a time. However, she only has a 3megapixel camera, so I'm worried about the additional size of these photos if we get her this phone. Can you down-rez them to something small and have the original to transfer via USB? Or does it only send the full/original photo?

I think you can edit your photos with photo editer and when from menu, you press on edit, it will ask to download photoediter as it is not preinstalled so after downloading you can adjust size and upload

If you tap on the screen where you want the focus the device moves its focus point to that part of the screen. I believe it will attempt to lock focus on this part instead.

You can try this by taking a couple pictures of a room with good depth of view. For instance stand in one location in the room and tap to focus on the sofa near you. You should see the phone bring the sofa into focus and the items in the rear of the room lose detail. Then if you tap to focus on something in the rear of the room they should come into focus and the item closer to you should lose their crisp focus.

Try this and report back.

I would imagine this is what happens.... It has been in place certainly on both the SGSII & SGN. I think I also had it on the original SGS as well.

Does anyone know how to get these 'live effects' which are advertised everywhere?
Apparently the camera app settings should have life effects but mine only has 'negative' 'sepia' etc..

All adversising shows these live effects but I cant find it anywhere???
