12/18/11: Amazon accepting orders again!

Perhaps I should have worded things differently, but hey, I had just ordered the Prime and I'm totally itching to get it. I can't say with any certainty that they have, but history shows they have before. This thing is huge, and I just hope Asus can produce as much as demand commands. I also hope they do some advertising. Preorders must be pretty huge. Imagine if they start advertising this thing so non-techie folk learn of it. Apple needs some more competition. It only gets better for us as consumers when competition is fierce (and fair...I hate the constant Apple lawsuits).

Totally agree! It seems that our world (computer literate) is totally ignored as far as advertising b/c we don't need a billboard or a radio give-away. This post should be a shout out to ALL tablet makers, START ADVERTISING!!! If "stupid consumers"/apple consumers are sold on Ads, then show them that Android is better!!!

I'm still miffed! I put my order in the day it was up on amazon....they gave me 10 bucks for the inconvinience.

Now I have a preorder in at jandr but im not optimistic.

Just an update. I ordered the Champagne 32GB and have not received a cancellation notice.

Anyone order a Champagne get a notice?

I'm getting frustrated with no release date from my amazon order. I want the thing the day it comes out. I also want a 64gb and a lot of the other retailers only offer the 32 version. Do you guys think I'll have better luck with one of the retailers listed on asustablets.us?

Amazon canceled my order, so I expressed how upset I was and they threw me $20 credit. Can't say I'm happy, but it might work out for the best if I can manage to find one in stores (and have an opportunity to play with a demo unit first).

same story here, pre-ordered 32GB grey on the 22nd of Nov, got the cancellation on the 2nd. Ended up at best buy unfortunately. I did speak with a cust service rep about 5 min after i got the cancellation and he said he wasn't sure what was happening and had no info about cancellations.

I just spoke with another service rep and he was able to tell me that it was ASUS that cancelled the pre-orders and was pushing back the release date. I was able to get $10 from amazon when i called the customer service rep.

i will say out of this entire situation the thing that pissed me off the most was the email from Amazon. Instead of honoring the pre-order, even if not shipping when expected (mid dec), they just told me to sign up to be notified by email when more are available. Last time i checked the reason that i pre-ordered was to avoid just such a situation, and the reason I pre-ordered from amazon is because i am a prime member. Huge let down by Amazon with this situation.

I still have a Jan. 5th expected ship date for my Champagne 32GB. However, I'm seriously considering canceling now. I'm really concerned that I'll wait all that time only to have it cancelled, delayed, or ship after people can walk into a store and buy it. None of those scenarios will sit well with me.

So my Nov 22nd Pre-order from amazon has not been canceled, but it was just changed from a "we don't have enough information to estimate a delivery date" to Jan 18th. I want it before christmas. I pre-ordered another one from bestbuy.com so I'll cancel my amazon one if that date is true. This is getting painful.... very painful.

I just checked my Amazon account & see no delivery date on mine.

Anyway I plan to keep my Amazon order in place & my best buy order & I will return my Amazon delivered tablet to best buy if the best buy comes first since it is more expensive then Amazon but if Amazon ships first ill cancel my bb preorder. Bases covered.

Just POd from Adorama. I ordered a few things for my camera from them years ago and ordered a Black Friday camera for my daughter. They have been highly rated over the years but I don't know if they will get as big a share of tablets on the initial shipment as the other boys.

I POd from Adorama on Friday evening and I was thinking the exact same thing. I have never ordered from Adorama nor had I ever heard of it until I saw it on nowinstock.net. I was bummed that I missed out on the Amazon PO but now I feel like it's a toss up with a lot of the Amazon POs getting pulled.

I've purchased a fair amount of high end photo gear from them. They always delivered for me. Never had a problem...in fact its one of the first places I look for photo gear. What to expect with this particular product I'm not sure but you shouldn't have to worry about them as a company.

If I took this strategy then my luck would be such that Amazon and Best Buy would ship to me the same day, and I'd get a double whammy of a charge. lol

I think my biggest concern is that I checked Asus Transformer Prime site last week, looking for preorder vendors. In the U.S. Amazon wasn't even listed. With all of the other negative info spewing forth, this definitely gives me cause to be concerned.

I ordered from J&r (jr.com) on Dec 2nd and the charge is processing today. Not sure if that means anything but I hope so. Amazon never charged me before cancelling my PO.

It's sort of ironic, but I can't recall a time I've been so anxious for a retailer to take so much money from me. I mean, please, take my money Amazon. :-)

I pre-ordered from Amazon on 11/22; 32GB champagne tab and dock. I have received no cancellation notice. The tab has an estimated shipping date of 1/9/12; the dock has no estimate yet.
As a backup, I just ordered the 64GB champagne tab from Adorama (estimated on or about 12/15/11). If the 64GB Adorama tab arrives first, I'll cancel the Amazon 32GB; If the Amazon tab comes first, or if they ship at or near the same time, I'll hold on to the 64GB, and sell the 32GB (to someone who perhaps missed out on all the pre-orders)

where are you seeing this, I see no mention of an "estimated shipping date"

I only see " The following item will arrive after December 25, 2011."

My order shows both - on one line it indicates what you have - and just above that, I've got an estimated delivery date of January 6, 2012 (that's with the one-day shipping - January 5th ship date).

I'm wondering what the deal is - why is Amazon's estimated ship date so much later than everyone else's? I'm hoping that they are just being cautious - but with everything else I've pre-ordered through Amazon, the release and delivery dates have been spot on...

EDIT - for what it's worth - I was one of the people who chatted with an Amazon rep who assured me my order was "authorized" and would not be cancelled...
