$125 Sprint Credit is still available if you port your number to Sprint

Really? I'm gonna have to go check that out around here. =] Much more comfortable getting my phone through Sprint than BB-- especially since I'm switching service just for this guy.

A while back, Sprint was offering a deal where if you ported you number from another carrier you would receive a $125 credit on your bill. They appear to have extended this offer until 6/23/11, so assuming the EVO 3D comes out before then, this may be of some value to you, and others, that are considering the EVO 3D and are new to Sprint. Follow the directions carefully, you only have 72 hrs to fill out the application after porting your number.

Port In Credit

EDIT: Great News, its been Extended AGAIN, now till 7/23/11! :)

Yup. Just got my mom over to Sprint from US Cellular and had her pick up the Nexus S 4G. It'll arrive Tuesday as I did everything online. With my individual plan turning into a family plan, $125 will almost be a free month of service for us.....can't beat that!

good news. i remember another thread where someone was deciding whether to settle for an older phone but get the $125, or wait till the summer for better phones and sacrifice the $125. I think s/he decided to wait. So this would be great news for people who decided to wait.

Just thought I would throw this out there for anyone interested in this deal...

At the bottom of the port-in application page (Port In Credit) you will noticed that it says that this deal is ONLY available through Sprint stores, telesales and/or online.
I did not know this, and purchased my phone at a 3rd party retailer (BestBuy). After a few bills, I never received my 125 dollar credit. So I called Sprint today and was told that the deal is only available if you purchase through Sprint. After some bitching and moaning, Sprint said they would honor the 125 dollar credit anyway (THANK YOU, SPRINT!!). I wouldn't count on this happening every time. So, if you want the 125 dollar credit for switching to Sprint, make sure you buy the phone through Sprint. Thankfully, Sprint helped me out, and everything worked out well.

...Just an FYI to hopefully help those considering this deal.

I would like to port my number to Sprint, but I would like to get the Evo 3d which comes available 6/24. The credit deadline is 6/23. If I go and port my number on 6/22 and get a free smart phone, will I be able to upgrade to Evo 3d few days later when it comes available?

Thanks

From what I understand, yes, you can.

If they do that couldnt Sprint say that they werent 'new' anymore bc they had committed to a 2 yr contract the few days earlier? Very interested in this! I MUST ESCAPE T-MOBILE! Sorry, but I must!

Well I suppose that is a possibility, but I dont think you would have to worry. You become a new sprint customer, fill out the port in credit application, and then exchange for the phone you want (per Sprint's return/exchange policy) within 30 days. Two separate things. I have read around these forums, that this is working and Sprint has had no complaints/problems with it.
