Help 128MB Internal Memory?

Daughters unrooted phone began acting up. It started with missing contacts and then the phone icon went missing.
I looked at the amount of storage space available and saw 73MB of just under 2GB available used.
We removed some pictures and music (transferred via PC and backup) to free up space and powered off and on the phone. Still no contacts or phone icon and not much space really became available. Started to get a few pop-ups android.process.acore has stopped working, chrome has stopped working, etc...
Powering off and on did not change the issue, I decided to remove the battery. After reinstall and reboot of the phone it took close to 10 minutes to boot. Once booted it started popping up the same errors again, but it also had completely reset itself to factory settings.

After fighting through the pop-ups and slowness of the phone I got into storage and see that the internal storage space now lists 128MB.
I tried going through the system updates PRL, Profile, etc with no change.
The Android version is 4.2.1 with LS720ZV7.
I tried the Unbrick VM/Sprint F3 guide, but ended up getting this error similar to G1212 on page four of the thread:
Flashing
...PrimaryGPT
...PrimaryGPT
...PrimaryGPT
...PrimaryGPT
...PrimaryGPT
::Error::
F0000002"

The log showed the same issue as G1212 and as listed in the Various Unbrick errors sticky.

I suspect that the errors are due to 128MB internal storage issue and I wonder what happened to the other space. I know this phone has a total of 4GB and 2GB are hidden with the other 2GB for user space.
I wonder if the partitions have been corrupted or took a static discharge hit when the battery was removed.

Currently the phone will boot (after 10 minutes) but it goes back to a full factory reset condition each time it powers down. Note: This is not forced and does not enter recovery mode it shows the LG screen for a while and then finally the home screen, but android.process.acore has stopped working, browser not working and other pop-ups occur once the home screen appears.
I did try a recovery VolD+Home+Power and got the droid icon with an exclamation on his open breast plate, but it also has not solved the issue.

I'm not sure I want to root the phone since it factory resets with each reboot and I don't know much more I can do to figure out what is wrong. Before I shelve the phone and get her a new one I ask for any thoughts on the subject.

Mine is doing exactly the same thing. What did you ever find out about your phone. Can it be fixed, or did you get a different phone?

tl;dr It is a paperweight. Bought a new phone and moved on.

Slightly longer version. Through some extra investigation I believe an update got pushed to the phone and during the upgrade it was shutdown and rebooted, thus interrupting and corrupting the new update and phone. The space you see is what was left of a partition and the missing amount is corrupted from the update.
